Beware of the Norwich monk straps. They are terrible quality. Fit is off. Inconsistent stitching and cutting.

I had to replace my pairs THREE times and they're STILL uncomfortable as hell and cause blisters/rubbing.

Quality control has gone to shit, IMO.

My park aves are fine, but I will definitely not be buying AEs from now on.

I've heard really bad things about the Norwich and the Boston (both monk straps) I'm sorry you are having this experience. My first few wears with the Van Ness were very disappointing but they seem to have broken in nicely.

p.s. I would call them immediately and explain this issue, their customer service is unparraled.

Maybe I should. The lady I dealt with in Boston is a wench. She got pissed at me for having so many issues with sizing and fit. There's no way in hell she would welcome me in open arms were I to go back in and ask for another replacement.

Even after my third replacement, I literally wore 6 combos of different sizes and widths before I walked out with my current pair. I made sure to walk around in them in my house before wearing them out. Was fine.

Nothing like wearing them out in the field for a couple of hours, only to have more blisters develop in new areas. Can't believe the inconsistency in quality control for this model. Absolutely unacceptable.

    I gave up on these.

Is that really quality control? Sounds like a fit issue.

Every last won't fit on you perfectly.

My first pair, I was getting blisters on my left ankle only because the leather was cut too high, thus making contact with my socks/skin. My current pair, the left ankle is completely fine, but now the right ankle is getting blisters because the leather is cut too high.

My park aves are perfectly fine. It could be that my feet just don't fit monk strap style shoes, but to have to go through at least 8 pairs of the same model at the store and not be able to find one that fits me well is kind of odd.

Ok that makes more sense, I thought the blisters were on your foot.

I tried on the Boston a while ago and the last was too narrow for me.

How long have you been breaking in your current pair?

My current pair I've worn them three times so far.. it's strange because the first couple of hours in them, they feel really tight and rub against my ankles, affecting my gait a bit.. but as I wear them throughout the day, they're more comfortable.

It's sort of a love-hate thing because I like how they look and all, but they fit like shit half the time. I'll keep breaking them in but if I don't love how they feel after a month or so, I'm just going to sell them.

My park aves were comfortable from day 1 and have only gotten better since.

I find the Park Avenue, in black, to be the most uncomfortable AE I own. I have heard that the black custom calf is difficult to brake in, and a year after purchase it still feels uncomfortable at times. My other shoes in the same 5 last have broken in within days, and are a joy on my feet :)

Same here, once I found out he was holding for people I placed an order with him. I will not get them until Christmas (I bought them on behalf of my wife), but all the same!

This will be my first new pair of Allen Edmonds, I have been snatching up shoes from the forums and a few from ebay.

Had an interesting find at the Allen Edmonds Outlet store in Port Washington earlier this afternoon. Walked in there to check out the factory seconds and the closeouts that they had, and out of curiosity, inquired about the impending return of the Moras. The gentleman working in the store told me they had a few pairs in the back, at least one in black and one in brown.

As luck would have it, the brown pair was in my size (10.5E). Price was $249 for firsts. Scooped them up immediately and really enjoy how they look. Pictures below.

As much as I want a monk strap, I just couldn't find a combo in the Norwich or Boston that fit well. I'm seriously considering the Sid Mashburn double monk which is an Alfred Sargent Ramsey. They look amazing.

Anyone know if AE is switching up their sale starting Monday? I thought there was a post about a 2 for $300 deal.

For anyone wondering about the Amoks, I was told they're on the 4 last when I ordered.
