Are these what are coming out? I really like those leather chukkas in the upper left!
No clue...someone posted this in the reddit thread:
here's the link to the photo:
It looks slightly different than the Macneil due to the placement of the wing.
Im dying waiting for the fall catalog to come out!!!!
wow lots of longwings coming out... very nice
lol at those purple shoes haha piiiiiiiiiiimp
Okay. I'm gonna say what many on here are thinking: If this is what AE is becoming, then they may have seen my last purchase.
And this is on a day I am wearing my burgundy shell Bradleys, and quite enjoying them. I was just told that a black shell pair is no longer offered as part of AE's stock (a classic no longer offered?), and it would be a special order shoe for $700. And then I see this picture. It's like a bad dream.
yea, not really feeling those colors
I wonder if this is some college school color shoes for the upcoming football season. It looks like they are trying to show the versatility they have - I don't think this is representative of what will be in their regular line.
I remember on the CEO's blog a while back they showed some people at the Rose Bowl. One guy had some custom AE's in green and yellow and the other guy had some custom AE's in red and white.
L.R. - thanks for posting.
In addition to the very colorful picture already posted, I found a couple of other nugget of information very interesting.
New brown color for fall - Bourbon. Going to show up on existing styles.
Paul is currently "beta testing" a new loafer - the Patriot. His son later referred to a "cordovan Patriot". No clarification if he meant the color or shell.
Lots on how they are changing how they view seasons. Selling more in season as they are not import constrained and men buy more in-season. Also, on top of the September Fall roll out, there will be a Fall 2.0 with additional releases in November.
Personally I won't be buying any purple suede shoes, but I am glad that AE is trying to grow its base and still keeping true to the classics.
lets be honest here... there are less than 10 new styles in that picture, and they have how many in their current line up? more than 100... everything will be just fine, there there now....
the longwings are nice, as well as those chuckas that look to be the "bourbon" color
The honest colors: bright orange, bright red, kelly green, purple, royal blue, white; and the clown shoes shown below the pic in green/yellow and red/white.
If others wish to have these, I'm okay with that. Certainly curious coming from the "Great American Shoe Company" ....
At the risk of starting a stampede, I noticed this tidbit in the interview:
"We can make the Mora still, though, and we would if you'd like. Email me and mention this thread and we won't charge you the special make up premium."
I know there have been some folks here who liked the old Mora better than the Neumora; apparently you can still get it.
alright since the honesty of colors isn't really getting us anywhere, maybe the honesty of numbers will lol.... you have another 90% of other shoes to choose from, not every single one will suit your needs. i have about 8 pairs of AE's that i would actually pay for, and i am perfectly happy with that. 4 down, 4 to go...
in all seriousness, who cares that they have a few colorful shoes that came out... call blasphemy when you cant find the perfect balmoral or blucher, in cap, wing, or plain toe. that will never happen, which is why they still remain the "great american shoe company."
I don't disagree with you on a lot of the colors. But it seems to me that all they are doing is taking existing shoes and adding more color options. They're not changing the styles and more traditional colors at all. So people can buy these trendy colors, but the "regular" buyers aren't affected.
And the "clown shoes" are meant to be worn at college sports events. i.e.: they are intended to be clowny. Oregon vs. Wisconsin right?
For those of you lOoking to get the red white and blue shoes, Sherman brothers can get them for you for about $250 total. No tax or shipping. Use code hot2012.
