Personally, I find the 5th Ave's captoe to be pretty well proportioned...I have only seen the Park Aves one time in person, and the cap toe didnt ruin my day, but I think they look really great on the 5th Aves. But thats probably because I have big feet...I can see how, on a smaller shoe, the cap might look more cramped...but on mine, the cap looks pretty nicely placed.

Those shoes don't fit, you need a size 10. The vamp area is falling too high where the foot is wider. You need a larger size and adjust width from there.

the C&J Peal punch cap is such a beauty but it's too steep to full the trigger for me...

    Pictures are always welcome!

I would go with a bigger size. Your feet will sink into the shoe as cork breaks in but not that much. Do you have a high instep?

Sound advice. A half size larger will move the throat slightly forward but should not drastically alter other aspects of the fit. If you like the width, rule of thumb is go up one size and down one width.

thanks for the input, I guess it's a personal thing, I wear 10.5E on the 5 lasts but still find the cap on 5th ave to be a little too short to be my liking.

meanwhile I pulled the trigger on RL Sanderson, the same style as jefferson but cheaper price point at the tent sale.

the SA that I spoke to told me that Jefferson has a higher quality leather than the Sander, have anyone handle both shoes? I personally only tried on the jefferson for less than 5 mins when the collection first came out and had no recollection of what it was. But according to my SF search people tend to say that AE made RL shoes has a higher quality than the usual AE.

I got a pair of vintage Townleys off ebay, however I feel they didn't come as described. I understand leather cracks aren't fixable, but could a good cobbler minimize these in any way? There's also a loose flap of lining in the heel counter, anything I can do about that?

I'd love to send them back, but the seller is basically giving me a "caveat empor" attitude. I'm filing a claim through ebay but I'm not optimistic.
