1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Why is bourbon being discontinued?

    According to their CEO:
"We've decided to narrow our calfskin color range down to 5 for 2016 -- black, brown burnished, chili, oxblood and walnut. We see our newly updated versions of both chili and oxblood as trending very positively these days and want to give them more focus this coming year. We're also working in production to be more consistent in our finishing and to make superior finishing more of a strength of AE. Reducing the colorwheel to 5 (4 browns) helps us in that pursuit as well."

To me that leaves AE uncovered when you are seeking something in the the mid brown area without to much red tones. I can see their challenge when working at scale to get the shoes consistently looking the same. Some examples coming of their production line definitely looks like seconds.

I'm surprised to see them choose both Oxblood and (presumably Dark..) Chili over Bourbon...I love Dark Chili myself, but it seems to just be another brown-burgundy shoe with a different sole color combination. Oxblood is a prettier, flashier replacement for Merlot so I'm not surprised that the hung onto that color, but Bourbon was a really perfectly masculine looking medium brown that wasn't really found anywhere else on the AE color spectrum, unless you wanted to give burnishing your own walnut shoes a shot.

Does anyone know the number of employees and their age/experience level?

I was wondering if they were just missing qualified personnel to keep going at these production levels, which would for example be explainable by lots of people retiring or them raising production levels without hiring or finding enough people.

My latest 2nds for example were totally fine. Couldn't find an obvious problem at all but I've sent in my Sauk Drive for them to fix some problems they apparently don't even want to let stand on 2nds.

    OK -

So I finally got a few minutes to take some pics of my MTO black shell Strands. Forgive the lighting - It's dark outside and they're predicting a 70% chance of rain tonight. Also - I'm not a photographer. [IMG]

    Here they are:

Here are the shell Strands (brown, natural, black, burgundy):

Can you tell I like the style? I know, Elgins are not Strands; but they are. Also, gratuitous green suede on the right.

Also got in the brown shell MacNeils. They're dark and hard to tell apart from burgundy in this light.

A MacNeil family photo (Schautl, burgundy shell, brown shell, walnut shell, walnut/bone Summit Point). I guess I need the black ones to round it out. I wish I had gotten Watchidiot's navy shell too.

Very nice! It seems you have almost a complete set on strands. guess you just need a strandmok or rush street and one of those brogue suede strands from 3 years ago...

If I could find them for a steal, I would buy the brogue suede strands. Also, any of these:

Nope. BB shoes don't fit me. They don't usually come in EEE and when they do, they have Poron which means they don't fit me. Although, I would love their linen Carlyles in my size.
