Funny you mention that I was just looking at the G910 as I like the new keys on it...I may give it a whirl. My only issue may be the key next to the control key as I copy and paste all day long when I work....may just switch keyboards out when I am not gaming. I am a fan of the mechanical feeling and silent keys for me are huge as I work with a headset on. I will probably grab one if it goes on sale.

@Neo1 probably not going to get the Sauk...as I have the Oxblood Dalton and a Long Branch in Waxy Brown..and AE Wolverine which I am pretty sure as someone had mentioned is the same leather...kills me though that is a steal of a boot. Considering the Frieberg though but still waiting on the size 12 Normandy so I am up in the air

I also wish AE had a boot in between the Freiburg and their full-size boots. I would get a pair of Daltons or First Aves if they were an inch or an inch and a half shorter.

Would it be insane to get a pair and chop that much off?

I like the idea of the Shannon Drive but I agree it would probably be best for a plain toe oxford in brown. Kind of like a mock boot look. I switched jobs and the normal attire in my office is very casual - lots of sneakers and boots. Something like this would be great in the office and make the walk around the city a lot more enjoyable.

Been reading since I posted this. Made some progress but still working on what fits and what doesn't. Posted a 2-3 weeks back that I got some Fifth Ave. Ok fit but not great. Maybe listened to the AE sales guy too much.

What I have so far is:
    - Fifth Aves (Dark Chili): look good, a little snug in the toe. May get more 65 last shoes but would like a better fit.
    - Ashton (Walnut): surprisingly doesn't fit well. Pinches at the little toe on both feet, but particularly the right one. Comfortable enough to wear to work. Would not want to walk around in these all day. Would not do 678 last again.
    - Sanford (Walnut): Fit like a dream - if anything perhaps too much room up front. Finally found a shoe that looks good and fits well. 234 last seems to work. Only current shoe is the Addison which I don't really want.
    - Nashua (black): should be here today. I'll see how the 114 last does for me.

Given this any additional thoughts on styles to consider? Rubber sole would be helpful since I live where it's wet 8 months out of the year.

Pic of my Sanfords. (They look better with blue rather than black jeans.)

    It is known.

That's because CAC isn't a store. It's like 5 people who have to do everything from coordinate MTOs to manage returns to answer random questions, etc. they're always swamped. Any SA can have a store pulled from CAC, and do it faster because they'll get a commission. I'd call one of the outlets...

Well, Sauk Drive is definitely not a dress boot. If you've never seen Dublin leather in person, you'll know it's definitely not for dressy occasions. It's also awesome. The russet is browner than oxblood also...

They don't exactly make them from scratch unless you place an MTO order. The uppers are pre-cut and stitched and kept in a warehouse until the size is ordered. Then they slap it on a last and stitch the sole on. Only the most popular base models have patterns drawn up in every conceivable size and uppers cut accordingly.

I have never called and ordered directly from the CAC. I call my local store, and they place the order from the CAC. There is always a significant delay from the day of my order and the actual shipment date.
It would probably help if the SA wouldn't tell me that "it will ship out tomorrow." It never does, and they just shouldn't say it. That becomes the customer's expectatation. And then the company falls short of meeting that expectation.

@Kahuna75 My thoughts almost exactly regarding the Sauk & freiburg...are we like related or something?

Mechanical keyboards rule - so BB had the G710 for 59.99 as the DotD not too long ago but not anymore. For black Friday im pretty sure they have half off (msrp) all the g-series stuff for all day Fri & sat (and Thurs night possibly) - should include the Orion...don't see why it wouldn't. Wish it included the orobouros - I just can't justify that purchase at msrp - but I don't think the sale included razer.

@mreams99 Agree with mreams 100% on this. Dealt with both the store and CaC. Fastest it's ever been is about 6 days, usually closer to 10.

I have managed to come upon another pair of Bentons in chili, and this duplicates my existing pair. Since I have very little invested in these duplicate shoes I was considering send them in for a new sole. Anyone have an opinion or experience is switching out the existing rubber sole for a leather or a mini-lug? Would the mini-lug be creating a butt-ugly shoe or creating something interesting. It would obviously be a casual and "outdoorsy" feeling shoe at that point. All opinions welcome, especially pictures of any Benton modifications that are out there.

    Greetings,

I noticed the Rothsay as a limited run for the Black Friday sale. I've been doing a search to find out more about the last and the fit, but it seems previous runs of the style were made using a different last.
Does anyone know about this new 1757 last? The AE website still doesn't have any info on it.
I also called them and all the information they had was that it was "more roomy in the toe area".

And for those of you who may be familiar with it, how would you compare it to other popular lasts, such as 65 or 511?
How TTS is it really? Has anyone sized down a half size for these?

At the very least, how does the Rothsay (even if it was previously on a different last) compare to other AE shoes in terms of sizing and comfort?

    Many thanks in advance!

I believe no one owns them yet as they just released them 2 days ago...willing to be wrong - My guess is it a last between the 201 and the B34 by the looks of it...I would order your TTS and a size smaller then return which does not fit...

I actually purchased a cheap Benton for the sole purpose of having a mini lug sole or full lug sole put on them...turns out the pair I got the eyelets are misaligned...though when my foot is not in it they look perfect ...very odd.
