There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Is flat a good option? I was only looking at round. But if you have some convincing pictures I'm all to considering options for my chukkas.

I like the look of the flat but they take a long time to break in to slide better....honestly the round are probably better.

I am looking to add a pair of suede "somethings" to my rotation. Need suggestions (besides Allen Edmonds Gobi which I own and love) and even offers if you have something (9EE, 9E, 9½E, some 9½D) in my size for sale. I live in NC where we have a very dry and moderate winter (almost no snow, so I can wear suede nearly year round.

In what part of the state do you live? Because we, in the Triangle, have gotten horrid snow the past two years!

Ha. I live in Eden. We had "horrid snow" for like 48 hours the las couple years. I am just saying that the vast majority of the winter, I can wear suede.

I'm just messing around - I'm sure our northern neighbors would scoff at the flurries we call "snowmageddon" down here!

I'm assuming your Gobi isn't suede? I have the tan saddle and am considering the Navy, but I wish I could see it in person. Anybody have that one and what do you think?

I love my stone suede strandmoks. My wife says that it's her favorite shoe I wear.

Suede seems to be a consistently weak part of AE's catalog. It's frustrating as they've done some really nice suede make-ups for Club Monaco, Lands End and others. I know it's the AE thread, but if I was committed to buying new suede today, I'd be looking at other sources like Meermin, Carmina and Ron Rider.

Interesting, just looked at meermin--do they not offer any wide sizes?

I think AE strandmok suede is one of their best, but it is true, suede selections are limited. Particularly for boots. Let's call up their president.

Hah! Paul could take a step toward bringing back the MTO program by offering a suede option on select models. Imagine the First Avenue in rust suede, the Fifth Street in chocolate or the Mora 2.0 in blue.

Agreed on all points (and I'd add the Loake suede chukkas to your list).

What's irksome is when they DO offer something in suede, many times it's with a storm welt (eg Gobi, Dundee 2.0, Nuemok, Strandmok) and frequently with a light edge, making it a bit tougher to pair with jacket and tie. Offering a bit more formal version of a dark suede shoe or boot just isn't a priority for them.

Lol in Michigan here, we laugh when southern states close schools when it snows a trickle. Here, we drive full speed in blizzards. Yes, some of us laugh.

Question for you gents: What can you tell me about the Marlow, a discontinued style? There's a pair I'm eying on eBay that's my size (I think) but would like a little more info on their last and, especially their fit, before I pull the trigger.

They're beautiful shoes and at a price that would make them practical for recrafting. Any info you could impart would be greatly appreciated.

    Bernie
