I've actually not seen an EG shoe I couldn't appreciate the look of. Unlike JL...

Allen Edmonds 'Standish' in black shell cordovan. From the mid '90s as far as I can tell from the catalogs. Pretty cool and cleaned up really nicely as they were rough when I bout them. (eBay $35) Planning to pair with a charcoal suit for church tomorrow - too casual?

FYI, AE for RL models (Sanderson, Saunders, Singleton) are on sale on www.ralphlauren.com right now. They come out to ~$300 (retail ~$500). Great deal for firsts!

This was kinda my thought process too. Just because my shoes had a problem doesn't mean I don't think they're gorgeous. (There's zero chance of getting a replacement now, since it's a closeout and they no longer have my size) I wanted to share photos. Heck, half of the reason I appreciate AE is their customer service being outstanding.

Secondly, it's nice to get second (and 3rd, 4th, so on) opinions on flaws that won't instantly garner a reply about sending them back and getting another brand. We love our AEs or we wouldn't be here.

Didn't AE make a boot with linen side panels for RL a few years ago? Anyone remember the name of that model?

Not that one specifically, but I do know that the First Ave shearling boot should be arriving soon!

The Illford. It was a spinoff of the Eagle County.

I wouldn't worry. One of my shoes has this, and it hasn't been a problem. That part of the sole doesn't get as much contact with ground as the toe and ball.

Just received my CAVANAUGH SNUFF SUEDE.

Certainly better color than the bitter chocolate suede. Much lighter and anything darker is probably too dark for suede loafers.

Picked up a pair of Allen Edmonds Hillsborough's online new in box, but something is off with the heel. Is this normal/can it be easily fixed through just wearing them? The heel only touches the ground at its most forward point. It will lay flat-ish if I put the shoes on, but I feel the added pressure by the most forward point of the heel. Any thoughts? I think those have gotta go back.

I've seen a touch of heel-raise, but that looks a bit excessive, and if you're feeling that bit of pressure towards the middle of your foot...call me crazy, but excessive walking in that situation just seems to be a setup for foot pain. Which NO ONE needs.
