What's the "general" opinion on AE Casual Loafers?

@rahrah12 I considered putty a commando tap toppy on these when I got them and if I was dealing with the frequent misty/rain of Seattle I would have. My guess is when I resole these I will go with a commando style with a non commando heel block

like the heelblock on this wolverine

I don't generally buy black shoes/boots. But the Odenwald in black with brown edge and cream/white laces is drawing me in. They remind me of those vintage boxing boots.

If they fit well and you like them then they are fine - not able to recraft them with sole changes - basically once they are worn they are trash. Nothing wrong with that for the right priced shoe

I paid $35 - not really worry about the recrafting.

I liked them, funny thing is that they look actually pretty good, I was wearing casual wear and I felt like the shoes were too much. but maybe was just in my head.

recently received a pair of Patriots in 10.5 D. The instep is too low for my foot. If I exchange for a wider size will this remedy the instep problem Im experiencing, or is the Patriot simply not suited for my foot?

Got my tent sale daltons in. They look great... But I think I found the seconds problem. The left shoe SQUEAKS. Only the left shoe and narrowed it down to the tongue.
Will a squeaky ae fix itself? Is there anything to be done? Maybe some conditioner will soften it up? Would hate to have to return them.[IMG]

Condition inside and out - leave a day then hit with some baby powder - squeak will be gone.

All AE calf boots squeak. Use conditioner on the tongue or sprinkle talc powder. It should also go away with break in.

If you can't find any visible flaws, I would say you got really lucky!

I really like mine. They work great with denim.

No, you are not wrong. In fact, you are right! It is a versatile color, while also being distinctive. I wear mine with jeans and suits.

I had been uninterested in black AE's since they seemed so boring next to Walnut, Oxblood, Bourbon, Chili..... I might wear black shoes twice a year, but figured I should have a pair. I went with the Carlyle, and I like it. I like the shape, the simplicity, and uniqueness of the shoe. It isn't a shoe for someone who will obsess over wrinkles, as mine have already begun to crease.[IMG]

Oxblood Brooks Brothers Dundee seconds have arrived! These have the poron insole and standard Brooks Brothers rubber over leather sole. I got em at $114 but they have now raised the price to $199. As you can see on the box, first quality was listed at $145, so someone must have goofed. There's some burnishing on the toe and some subtle tiger striping. There looks to be a cut in the leather of the right shoe, but at this price I don't mind!

Thanks, yours' turned out great. I don't know why AE decided to have black edge dressing for bourbon and oxblood colors.
And same here, I wear my moras now more often after the edge color change.
