Picked-up my Neumora today from the AE store. First time wearing any kind of double monk shoes. The Neumora feels a little more roomy than the Larchmont which is a good thing for me even though they are on the same Last.

There's some loose stitching on the throat area of the left shoe near the tongue. I'm going to get this pair of shoe exchanged for another pair. Also, the sole stitching IMO is not a quality stitching as on my other AE shoes. (Pant color off on the Neumora pix in comparison to the Larchmont pix. Sorry for the crappy pixs. Should have cleaned the mirror also.)

The Larchmont on the same #3 Last as the Neumora. Both shoes are 9E.

I used some of the AE premium paste polish (in the tube with a sponge on the end) for the first time today since I needed something that matched my walnut daltons and the meltonian brown is too dark.

I thought it was pretty nice stuff. I squeezed some out and then rubbed my horsehair application brush across the sponge (didn't want to actually use the sponge on the shoe). It went on easy and seemed to bring out a nice shine. Then I hit the antiqued part of the toe with a little bit of brown kiwi from the tin.

I think it must be a little more of a solvent than the meltonian paste (kind of like how kiwi tins have a fair amount of solvent power) because when I washed the application brush off afterwards, the part where the AE paste had touched came away super clean while further up, the bristles were still stained the meltonian brown.

Well done. I actually unscrew the cap with the built-in foam applicator and put it directly on a horsehair dauber; this seems to work better than the foam applicator. I agree that the AE premium paste is good stuff; I have it in chestnut, chili, mocha, and walnut for my various AEs. I typically give them a bit of love with Saphir Renovateur, then follow up with a dab of the AE premium paste. The exception is for my black calf, on which I use black Saphir Medaille D'Or...phenomenal product.

+1 the foam applicator is not very good, better use a dauber.

My new McAllisters, which I immediately polished & shined upon unboxing.

Good to hear. What colour was the AE paste? I orderd cognac for my walnut McAllisters based on suggestions here - okay, and some laces, brushes, cloths and a belt that was on sale :)

Are AE shoe trees the way to go?

I also just got the McAllisters and posted a pic a few pages ago. What's the best type of cloth do you use for the polish or does it not matter? You got the Walnut paste right? I got that as well but now I think tha the neutral one may have been better if I want to retain a lighter color. Thoughts?

    Presidio is indeed the closest.
On another note, I'm realizing that sizing down by .5 stops the whole heel slippage issue with the loafers. So this opens up the avenue on AE loafers again, what did you end up deciding on?

    +1 for Presidio

I bought the Presidio, 2nds in black on sale at the outlet a few months back. Nice shoe, but definitely not a classic penny loafer.

I have AE full toe trees, Nordstrom split toes, and the Woodlore Epic. The Woodlore Epic and Ultra are fuller in the heel and vamp but I don't know that they are better. If the price is right and the shoe tree fits, use it. Anyone have a different experience?

I'm disappointed to have deal with a quality issue for my very first pair of AEs. My pair of supposed 1st quality cordovan Leeds has 2 major defects. Needless to say, they are being shipped back.

Anyhow, they're an 8.5D that should end up in the 2nds listing.
