Maybe I have been away from this thread for too long, but as far as I know there is no walnut calf color unless you are comparing them to walnut shell, which is a different material.

Simple walnut and Burnished walnut. On their web site i see no difference in pictures) I agree, this is my first pair, so no idea about colors. Especially give that you can change a shade by using different polish cremes.

Basically, i just need to know which color are these on the bottom.

do a image reverse lookup, you'll find where thst picture is from. if guess calf due to the unpleasant orange color of the walnut.

I have a care question. On a leather sole, what's that rubber part on the heel called? I have 3 pairs of shoes and they all have slightly different shapes, but they all look like they're made to be replaced so that leather heel itself lasts longer. All of mine look like they've worn to the point where there's just a sliver left before the leather heel is exposed on the edge.

Also, is this an easy thing to replace? Usually nailed? Glued?I live in China and the cobblers in my city aren't really professional. I doubt most of them have seen shoes with leather soles, at least where I live (small city). Not sure if I should ask them to replace it or not, but if I know how they're supposed to be replaced, I could ask if they do it that particular way or another.

Agreed, I use cognac polish on my walnut AEs too. I bought two tubes of it last year when they were on clearance. I regret not buying more now. I haven't been able to find it reliably anywhere since they stopped making it.

Anyone have pics of a Fifth Street boots in black cordovan?

A pair recently popped up on the shoebank site and I don't think I have ever seen "in the wild" pics of them. Shoebank has them listed as a webgem from 2012, I wonder how that never made it to them before.

Yeah, I find Chilli color very versatile; goes well with all darker shades of gray and Blue

I know there's some photos of them in burgundy cordovan on this thread from way back when, but they might be without the medallion. They look pretty sweet.

I might have to try and get a GMTO at the end of summer of a pair of these in suede or cordovan without the medallion. My guess is that the EUR will climb back and price increases will make AE's GMTO program pretty favorable again!

8E, might be picking them up but can't decide if the style suits my wardrobe.

I saw some in burgundy on google but could not find any in black, I wonder if maybe it wasn't a big seller during the webgem.

A stack of Park Aves in Navy suede and Bitter Chocolate suede just showed up on the shoebank.

I thought it was weird, but then I saw this picture (note this is a Carmina... and AE Bitter Chocolate should be darker):

How do you monitor new styles on the shoebank?

I would love a Navy Suede in the PA... Unfortunately my first 5 last and I aren't getting along at the moment.

Anyone else ever had the bottom of your big toes go numb? They aren't being pinched on the sides or ends. I might even be able to go down a width or 1/2 length.

Stood on tradeshow carpeting for 6 hrs yesterday and they were pretty damn numb at the end of the day. Aside from that, decent fit.

Any ideas? Should I chuck in some sort of pad like the girls wear in their pumps under ball of their foot? Or is this still a break in thing. Have worn them 3 times for 5 hrs each, more standing than walking (tradeshows)

Well, it is time to tell my AE story...

Approximately January 2014 I decided it was time to get a "really nice" pair of shoes. I go to my local department store, and after looking at several, I told the SA "I am thinking Allen Edmonds." His eyes light up, and he takes me to the good stuff.

If I recall correctly, he showed me a Strand and similar shoes at first, and they just looked too "flashy", so I said I wanted something a bit more simple.

I end up leaving with a pair of Black Parkways.

I start reading up on AE, and decide I want shoes like the president, so in March, I go to Nordstroms and insist on a pair of Brown Park Avenues.

March: Liking the diversity, and feeling good about my expanding collection, I decide maybe the Strand wasn't so bad after all. And having it in Walnut would be a really cool complement.

May: I stop into my newly opened AE location near my suburb (just to look of course) and end up leaving with a pair of Black Shreveports. (Why do these get no love in this thread?)

June: I like wearing AE's to the office so much, I need a pair every day. I buy the "Fastball" so I can wear them day and night, and for my many trips to the ballpark.

July: I like my Black Shreveports so much I can't resist having a pair in Walnut.

August: I can't buy shoes every month, so I just buy colored laces instead. The complements skyrocket!

October: I've been good! It's been two months since my last purchase! And I need black in the winter! And I love the way my Walnut Strands fit! A pair of black Strands.

November: My Fastballs are worn out, and it's time for winter! A pair of Belleveues it is!

November: I can't buy dress shoes every month (but if I buy them on the 26th, it's really like buying them in December, right?) And all of my AE's are tie shoes!

December: My new Franciscan Monks in Bob's Chili arrive! (They fit terribly compared the pair I tried in the store, so I return them and the replacement fits perfect).

January: I can't buy shoes every month, and I need new suits to step up my game to match my shoes.

February: OK, I waited a month...and the Duggan Plazas are on clearance! I've been looking at these for awhile. A Walnut pair is on the way. (These also seem to get no love in this thread). I'm looking forward to trying a slightly different look.

I am loving the comments here about excess, and the need to slow down. In fact my finding of this thread convinced me to delay the Mora 2.0's in Bourbon that I am suddenly craving.

I realize this is a condition, and I feel fortunate to have found a support group.

Re-read this from January if you forgot where I was at just a year ago...

    PSA -

There is a walnut shell cordovan Dalton in 12EEE at the ShoeBank. However, there is a noticeable tear in the leather. They were originally marked as firsts, but upon further inspection they were downgraded. I passed on them due to the tear possibly affecting the integrity of the boot.

haha, awesome walkthrough process, but visiting these threads, especially with all the enablers here, will not slow you down or let your wallet take a breather, even for a month or two.

i went thru a similar experience, but i would like to add the following thought process during my purchases:

    a) downpayment for preorders doesn't count right? It's only 25% up-front, which is very affordable
    b) putting my name on an Alden list doesn't count right? I didn't pay for anything yet
    c) paying full payment up-front doesn't count right? I'm technically getting these shoes 4 months down the line.
    d) when the shoes arrive, it doesn't count for the month received right? technically I bought these a few months ago and I'm allowed to buy something for this month since XYZ is on sale and it adds value to my perpetually growing rotation from one pair of Cole Haans and one pair of generic DSWs to a rainbow of a PAs, which every president owns with the exception of Obama, a couple of FAs, a must-have (and you know it) walnut Strands while impatiently waiting for my trunk show shells to arrive and just ordering another pair in Bob's chili . Phew, don't I need polish also?

(okay i was just joking about D, but you get the gist of how things go around here.

Haha this is awesome! Welcome to the forum.

lol I rationalize with myself like this all the time. Got my name on a few lists and one preorder downpayment at the moment, hoping to jump on another one next week too haha.

    Same here.

Actually noticed what I think to be the Club Monaco suede Leeds hitting one of the sizes I checked the other day.

It may look like you can get them replaced separately, but as far as I know, you need to get the whole heel layer (not stack) replaced.
I think you're going to have to see them in person to determine whether they are the right shade for you as burnishing will vary from shoe to shoe. These look like they are burnished though, because the color on the toes is not uniform from what I can see.
