1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

The Rutledges are black, not brown. I use AE black cream (the stuff in a jar) and then AE black polish (the stuff in a tin).

About to buy my first pair of Shell Cordovan shoes. Help me decide between MaNeil and Cambridge.

Most important thing is to try them both on to make sure one is not disqualified for fit.

Assuming they fit equally well for you, I vote MacNeil by a large margin. To me, the wingtip style is the standard for cordovan. Get those in burgundy and you are off to a great start with a classic.

Thanks, but I am ordering from ShoeBank. I won't have the luxury of trying for fit. Though, I have never had a pair of AEs not fit me perfectly. 9E.

Longwings in burgundy shell are a classic. But if you're gonna wear with suits, the Cambridge will be a better choice.

Also, the 7 last runs shorter than the 5 last.

This is the issue I had. I had to size up.

But I would still say MacNeil. If you plan to wear with suits, calf is a good option.

I sized the same, but it's a little tight up in the toes.

I also tend to prefer calf with suits.

I know this photo was from forever ago... but GOODNESS! How in the hell did this guy ever think these fit his foot! His left foot is ok, but the right one is atrocious.

Sort of a PSA. Noticed Shoebank has the Shaker Heights in brown and chili at $127. I know these are popular here. Also have the Promontory Point in black at $127, though some have reported fit issues with that boot.

When faced with the same decision, I chose the Cambridge, and love the shoe so much I'll wear it with just about anything without shame. :D

Good luck whatever the ultimate choice as you cannot go wrong with either option.

Yeah, I hopped on the Chili Shaker Heights last sale, and while I haven't worn them yet, I'm very excited to. What a deal.

If the Promontory Point doing fit, be sure to take out the huge orthotic insole. That throws them off by almost a full size.
