1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I know right, brown Dainite would be awesome for a lot of makeups.

I was speaking to her about doing a chili colored welt and actually haven't sent the pictures I had in mind yet. When I hear back next I plan to ask about the specifics from the Mctavish.

Couple of years ago I used it for a little bit but felt it didn't really do much. Really puts a shine on shell for a little bit at first then kind of gets in the way and makes them dull. In the end I concluded the same as half and stopped using it.

Any fit information on the 8 last? AE says that it is long/narrow. Can anyone compare it to the 5 last? Thank you in advance.

I take the same size as the 5-last but most people go one size up in width from the 5-last.

So ask yourself whether the width of the 5 last is tight or a bit loose.

Even narrower than the 5 last? Wow. How about length?

I normally have to size up in width on the 5 did to it being a balmoral. I shouldn't have as much trouble with a blucher (looking at getting the Clifton).

Just my personal opinion, but I like Chili with anything but black.

Speaking of Chili, here's the comparison between Chili and Bob's Chili I (think I) promised a few days back. Sadly, the photos aren't that telling, but it's definitely the case that regular Chili is noticeably lighter than Bob's:

I think I prefer the original, as it's further from Brown and Merlot. If anyone wants pictures in the sun (the sun wasn't out when I took these), I'll grab those, too.

They fit similar in terms of length.

Had the cut in my Banchorys glued today by the cobbler up the street. Didn't charge me anything, but I think I'll head to another one later and ask for a leather patch on the back side as the cut is quite deep, almost through.

    Thank you.

Can anyone else chime in on the 8 last? Or more specifically the Clifton?

There isn't. I bought them as seconds for $107. The tear is deep and considering they're unlined (and the leather so soft), it's somewhat unfortunate. My justification for keeping them is that I bought them for less than the price of recrafting another of the shoes in my rotation (using a store credit, nonetheless). They're also blue longwings, so I doubt they'll be the most heavily traveled of my shoes, they're not going to be my beaters.

The glue job doesn't cover the visibility of the tear, and it's hard to see in the photos, but it is successfully holding it closed. Still, I'm planning on going to a better cobbler to get a patch on the inside since I'm still concerned for the durability and preventing it from opening back up (or worse, ripping further).

The leather on the banchory is so soft I can not imagine it ripping further but better safe than sorry for sure.

I wish I would have purchased a darker color (maybe chili), but I still enjoy them.
