1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

11B - my normal size. Left foot is a little too tight. Right isn't too bad.

Should I swap out my black Park Avenues for brown Park Avenues? Just really don't have a huge use for black shoes aside from formal occasions a couple times a year. I could probably just wear the brown PA's at the same events that I would wear black PA's.

Am I answering my own question?

I wear an 8E in the suede strand and bought an 8E in the Amok as well. Waiting on delivery should be tomorrow or day after.

Thanks and a very astute observation on your part. My left foot is slightly larger than my right (which is very common) so has more volume therefore less creasing.

I looked and surprisingly I do not have any more pictures of my shell PA's. I will try to get a couple for you in the next few days. My fingers are crossed for you too!

Beat me to it Doc, well done [IMG]

looks like a chukka design with the sides trimmed... but maybe that's my overactive imagination

Burgundy shell Grayson came in, looking great, definitely a keeper. I took a guess on the size but it was spot on. Very happy with the purchase, especially for that price

Some discolorations that made them seconds, probably due to thick layers of polish. I'm planning to hit them with a light coat of reno to take out the dark spots.

This is actually a classic English derby style. Here's one from Loake:

St. Crispins, though they're not English, but you get the point:

yeah that's strange: a calf derby in that rather refined style would have been nicer instead of steerhide

Is saddle leather really rough, though? Sure, rougher than calf, but not as rough as Dublin/CXL. I'd rank it around pebble grain.

I think it suits the last and welt style, but the price is a bit high for anything less than calf. I think it would be a great shoe to show off some of their new calfskin finishing, too. In burnished burgundy?

They really should have made the suede version which you can see here, too:

Just got the Amok's from AE's...there are a few blemishes on the left shoe. I'm debating whether to return them or keeping them as the color is something that well, will get dirty. Can I get your opinions this? Sorry for the quick iPhone pic

The marks are really minor - I would suggest keeping them if they fit you well (a lot of people find it hard to get a good fit on the amok)

BTW, the tan saddle leather AE uses nowadays has changed to calfskin according to Allison. I got a sample of it and noticed it was much thinner than I expected. I asked whether it was maybe just top grain, and this was her response:

Quote: Tomorrow I will try to take pictures of the samples I've received.
