For that matter amazon is having a 15% off sale on select AE shoes till March 19th (you do not have to be a prime member). The discount doesn't show until you are on the final checkout screen. No tax plus free shipping was a done deal.

Or more specifically, 15% off most shoes over $80

Just picked up a pair of Elgins. The left fits perfectly, however, the right feels like my foot is going over the insole just a little, will this go away with a little wear-in time? This is my first pari of "good" shoes, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I assume that they will become a bit more fitted as they have the cork layer. Any help would be great.

    FYI
There is a new store opening in Oakbrook, IL. A radio ad this morning mentioned a grand opening sale of 15%. They ad also mentioned an upcoming 90th anniversary sale. That may be the motivation I need to buy the neumora. Another pair of shoes I don't need.

What is your brannock size? What size are the shoes? Do you have a low instep or flat foot? Did you buy the shoes in store or online? The fit should be pretty good from day one. The shoes will break in, but not that much and not quickly (though some SF members have had a different experience).

Also, my thanks to patrick_b for the post on bulling. I tried bulling the cap on my PAs. It looks good, but I still need some practice.

I picked up a pair of AE Strand's in the walnut calfskin last summer. fell in love. Everyone loves the shoes and I make an effort to wear them as often as possible. I saw that AE does custom shoe trees so I had to get a pair to keep them in great shape.[IMG]

I got to see them in person in a local store the other day. They're a beautiful shoe. And they were on sale for $199 to boot. It was a shame they didn't have them in my size.

I had a pair and thought they were beautiful in person, but the last is too narrow for my foot. Congratulations.

But.. the old Lombard had a rubber sole. Did they change them, or are these Players?

I thought the Lombards had a rubber sole. I'd be all over them too at that price with a nice sole.

I don't have them handy, but I'm pretty sure my Lombards do have rubber outsoles. The sides of the sole are as pictured above though. Not leather, but finished to resemble wood or something like that. YMMV but these are among the most comfortable shoes I own (10EEE)

These are Players' Shoes, not Lombards, though they are similar.

Yes - the Lombards have rubber "executive" soles as well
