Does anyone own Swims galoshes that they use in the winter and rainy weather?

My walnut McAllisters got water damage (its darkened permanently in a spot and there's a slight crack in the leather near the welt) and I don't want any other one to get damaged.

I wear 8D, so if anyone who owns Swims already could tell me if I'm an M or an L it would be great.

If MWS says run... you better run like you never ran before.

    @althanis:

I just got a pair of Swims from Brooks Brothers. I live in Canada and use them from September through April. I used the sizing chart on the Swims website before ordering, and it worked out well for me.

(Sorry, mobile site wouldn't let me quote)

    Following up on this:

I bought some Park Avenues in 8.5 EEE and they have about 1" of gap between the quarter pieces at the top of the lacing. I decided to buy some Hales, hoping that the different last would accommodate my high instep a little better. I got the Hales in 9 EEE. They arrived today, but I don't see much of an improvement versus the Park Avenue:

Thought I'd provide a fit pic for LEgoiste and any others who may have a similar issue. I think I'm going to keep the PAs and send back the Hales.

that gap doesn't look too bad at all. I mean, when I see it I don't automatically think that something is not right. That gap is acceptable in my opinion.

I'd tend to agree. I wore thicker-than-usual socks attending a funeral service on Saturday and my relatively new Park Avenues looked just like that. Another few wears on those above and I suspect they'll settle right to where they need to be.

Also, because nobody's said it yet with regards to that photo: try you some bar lacing! Balmorals love it.

I agree. I see nothing problematic about either shoe in the photo.

I have them and wear them whenever there is a chance of salt on the streets or when it is wet. I picked them up from the AE outlet for $30/pair. I am a US 9D and bought the Swims in Large.

That's the plan. I was just doing it quick-and-dirty to check fit.

Thanks. The Swims site suggests a large for sizes 8 to 9.5 In your opinion Churchill, would the large be too big for the size 8?

I'll also pick them up from Brooks Brothers, which is unfortunately a lot more than $30, but I'll have the corporate card, and it'll be worth the investment I think.

I returned from a Caribbean cruise yesterday evening. Your package was at my office when I returned to work this morning, so...I'll let you know tonight!

    Thanks again, my friend.

Thanks for the reply. The Cognac color that I was eyeing in the Frye's sold out, so I ended up going ahead and grabbing the pair of Long Branch's from 6PM.com for $188 with today's 15% off sale. Good price, awesome shoe, excited to try them out!

Making me think about them, too. I'm a 9D in that last but I find that with thick socks they are pretty tight.

Hmm not sure if they would be too big for a US 8 honestly. The fit is pretty spot on for my US 9Ds.

If you are going to pay full price for the SWIMS you may also want to consider these from A Fine Pair of Shoes.

Only issue is that returns may be a bit tougher.

Thanks for the suggestion. They charge about 19 pounds for shipping, so with that it's already close the the BB price, plus I might get dinged with customs, so it'd probably be a wash. I'll try the large BB, can always exchange if it's too big.
