There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Are McAllisters casual enough to wear with jeans/chinos?

They're considered more casual than Strands because of the extra brogueing right?

It's the opposite. McAs are considered more formal in most occasions. Most will advise against wearing them with jeans and chinos, but I think if you may be able to get away with it if they are walnut McAs, nice navy sport coat and dress shirt. Even with that look, i would much prefer the Walnut player shoes over McAs.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I hope I'm wrong). AE doesn't offer any wholecuts right now do they?

They might have Hanover seconds in black or bourbon in your size. But they must have wiped out all the firsts in the clearance section.

In my opinion, strands and McAllisters are about equal in formality.

I would consider something with open lacing, like the Player, MacNeil, or Larchmont. I always think dressy balmorals look odd with jeans, unless they're clearly casual like McTavish, Ridgeway, or Spiaggia.

Cool, thanks Mike! I agree, I really like the colour.

They were an eBay purchase, so I don't know if they were a special make up or not. The colour is very similar to my Dark Brown Burnished calf Strands, and as Mike points out above, they have a lighter, transparent edge dressing.

I hadn't even considered that, but it very well may be. They are a bit sleeker and have a more pronounced "point" to them than do my other MacNeils. They're a bit snug as well. I'm at work now, but will check the numbers inside when I get home to confirm the last.

I have definitely thought of doing the same and probably will. I have a pair of walnut Strand seconds that I adore, but would kill for a walnut Dalton that actually fits my foot. After owning a 13D and a 12D at separate times, it's become apparent that I would need a custom size for these boots. Unless the ebay gods smile down on me some magical day, it looks like my only hope is for AE to re-source the material.

One easy way to confirm is to check for slip beading. The classic MacNeil has slip beading while the MacNeil 5 doesn't if I remember correctly.

    Great looking shoes btw!

It's that strip of leather across the shoes top line that covers the edge of the cut leather :) shoes like the McAllister, Strand, Leeds and MacNeil would have it while the Neumok, Badlands, MacNeil 5 doesn't have it.
