1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I was speaking to Nick at B Nelson regarding possibly changing the welt and soles on my Leeds and I was trying to think what I would prefer for soles (was thinking brown Dainite but I want those for my brown dundees when the time comes).

What specs would you guys do on the welt and soles? What do you think would look best? I need Blasters help haha

Or do I just do the $125 recrafting through AE, replace with the same double JR soles but change to a light/medium brown transparent edge and chili welt?

I also agree, looking good! Mine are still in active rotation. I have enough wingtip boots but feel I can always use another captoe, especially a Bayfield.
Wish I would have had one made in burgundy shell now

I live in Mn. also and most of my XX (don't want to count them and know LOL) shoes\boots have leather soles. As soon as I walk in the door from work I take them to the deep sink and wipe them down with a damp rag. If the soles have gotten wet which is usually the case I use a knuckle brush and saddle soap to clean them and then place them on a closet maid type shelf which is open and allows air to circulate. It has worked well for me. The next day when dry I always hit the edges with edge dressing and if the soles are starting to get beat up I will apply a little HDLP and melt it in with a hair dryer, but it does make them slippery on tile and marble flooring at first.

I'm really digging the socks. Shoes are obviously fantastic.

I think I chili welt and a medium brown edge would look fantastic on those.

As someone below the age of 30, these are the first loafers on this thread that I genuinely want to buy ASAP. What model is this and what is the color of the upper?

It is the Alden 986 in #8 shell cordovan and has been re-soled by B Nelson

    http://leathersoulhawaii.com/2012/04/25/red-dainite-resole-from-b-nelson-shoe/

You could buy a Patriot 2nds in Burgundy shell and do the exact same thing. Or do an MTO for a pair of 1sts

    Your Welcome Sir!

    That product is indeed incredible.

Here is another review by a friend of mine that first enlightened me to it:

    Thanks!

I like it there because of the flat welt but I don't think I would like the natural split reverse welt. Would be just too jarring for my liking.

That was what my gut was kind of telling me. I am waiting to hear back from AE about the the possible changes through the recrafting program.

Flawless counterpoint haha. That looks awesome and the color of my Leeds gets closer to that tone all the time. It would sure take them to another level of casual. Makes me even consider changing to exposed brass eyelets, for Blaster of course.
