OK, now this is odd: when I try buying a pair of strands, It doesn't work. With any other model, I get the discount. WTF?!?

I added Walnut Strand, went to checkout, $45 promotional discount applied.

Make sure the size/color you want is sold by Amazon.

I believe there is an user that sells new Allen Edmonds in the B&S forum for a discount off retail (around $230 if memory serves me correctly).

I'm more thinking about on-line sources. I'm deep in "fly-over" country with only one brick and mortar retailer in my city carrying AEs.

There are six shoes pictured for the Strand. The first three are sold by Amazon; the last three are sold by shoebuy. I get the discount for the Amazon purchases, but not the Shoebuy purchases.

Yes, AllAboutShoes offers very good pricing on AEs. I ordered a pair from Amazon to check size and fit, Merlot McAllisters which look very good I might add. I am comparing the 11C with the 11.5B. Not much difference as you might suspect.

I wear a 11.5D in last #5 (Strand, McAllister, etc). Just had to size up to a 12D in the MacNeil's. The toebox was just too narrow. Anyone else or am I nuts?

I wear the same size (10.5C) in both the 5 and 7 last (including the MacNeil).

E sent me a shipping notice for a pair of cappuccino shell Dundees I ordered about 2 weeks ago (ordered on 2/23). It appears that I will receive it tomorrow (3/9) since I'm in the neighboring state (MN). I'll try to post some pics and comparison shots to my one pair of Alden cigar shell as soon as I can after receiving it. Crossing my fingers that it will work out well.

It appears that I will receive it tomorrow (3/9) since I'm in the neighboring state (MN). I'll try to post some pics and comparison shots to my one pair of Alden cigar shell as soon as I can after receiving it. Crossing my fingers that it will work out well.

I am hesitant to buy them online since I have never tried them on. I am a size 10.5, but sometimes that can be snug on certain types of shoes. I went to a red wings store and they measured me there as a 10.5 D (M). Should I go try some allen edmonds out at a store or just go ahead and buy them online?

Are these cappucino shell shoes like the Dundee a MTO shoe, preventing a return for fit issues? Or does AE's exemplary customer service work on these special order shoes like any other order?

As a limited edition shoe, I would guess the resale value would be high. Depends on how many other people are selling the same size. By that I mean, if you order and decide you don't want them, you can recoup most of your money.
