Teal, I finally got home from work and had a chance to feel the toe of my Jeffersons. The medallion portion of the shoes are stiff, but it's a little soft above the medallion, but still on the toe portion of the shoe. My 2 year old Walnut Shell Strands are stiff toed all the way up. As long as they fit you properly, which if you did a MTO, I assume is the case, then you are fine. Hope this helps. -Mike

Hey all, I really like the burnishing on the toe cap and was wondering how to best keep/maintain it. I don't want to accidentally brush it off or anything. Pointers?

Just use a clear or neutral polish.

Pretty sure I see standard calf creases.

That said, they're in great condition for their age! How often did you wear them? How well did you take care of them? How many times have they been resoled?

If I order a pair of walnut shell strands, should I expect them to look like in the above picture, or is that not the normal color of AE's walnut shell?

I'm sized identically as you when wearing the same style of sock (dress sock) 15D on the 5 last but 14E on the 1. That being said if my intent was to use my bayfields for rough stuff with insulated socks I'd have sized up, but instead they're my to office commuters and worn to see clients when it's snowy/wet this winter.

From what I understand, AE is no longer making shoes with walnut shell cordovan. Only brown, black, and burgundy at this point.

    Too bad, those are awesome...

Many thanks -- that really deepens the color, and should make it easier to match to a belt. I appreciate the comparison!

AE doesn't have walnut shell any longer, so your best bets at this point would be an eBay and the Shoe Bank, with both sources being very unlikely and conditional on your size.

Pelle Line has, or had, a few Dalton's in Walnut Shell as of two weeks ago. Other than that, the factory is out, so yes, either seconds or eBay.

The tongue on my left Bayfield boot will not stay centered. Is there a quick tip to fix this or will I have to see a cobbler?

That's pretty typical for boots, so I'm told, and has to do with the individuals step vs. the boot being defective.
