I disagree here. I tried on calf patriots before I picked up the same size in shell a few weeks later. Calf fit wonderfully, but I'm having a problem with the shell digging in to my feet across the vamp. I'm sticking with them in hope that they eventually loosen up just a bit. Also, they're quite dull despite me brushing, rubbing, VSC/Reno-ing them for extended periods of time. I wish they picked up a shine...

Shell stretches less than calf. May be what you are experiencing. Calf will stretch considerably on your first wearing. Shell will not.

I have had similar experiences typically with the Alden LHSes. I have found that the the top doesn't necessarily stretch out (particularly with Shell Cordovan), but actually, my weight causes the bottoms to compress just a pidge, which is enough to make the top comfortable. Hope that this helps! Good luck!

We could argue about sizing all day and night but the reality is, everybody's feet are different AND every pair of shoes is different. Because of these variables the only real way to know what size of shoe to get in a certain model is to TRY IT ON. One 9d shoe might fit completely different from another 9d shoe of the same model.

Your problem is not with shell, it's not with calf. If you tried on 10 pairs of shell, and 10 pairs of calf they would all fit slightly differently from each other. Don't let your experiences with one shoe influence your opinion so greatly.

I can usually tell if a shoe will fit based on the pics on the manufacturer's site...
Not so much with AE's pics... :stirpot: :roflmao:

Maiden voyage of my regular burgundy shell MacNeils. They got to see the dentist office today for my root canal. The right shoe has more of a glow than the left but hopefully some brushing and buffing should balance them out. I like the "beefy-ness" of these gunboats.

    Off to the root canal!

I believe there's a $900 shell cordovan version of this boot or a very similar looking plain toe.

I finally had a few minutes to photograph my Walnut Shell Daltons.

Plus plenty of pictures of the new Walnut Shell Daltons and my new Family Set.

One thing that I like about these Walnut Shells in particular, is the presence of an extra set of stitches inside the perforations on the side of the boot. This row of stitches are not present on the standard Daltons. I think it makes the boot look nicer and slightly more formal. They are also unlined. I am not sure if that was standard with the Webgem Walnut Shell Daltons or if that was something special Pelle Line did. The burgundy shell Daltons shown below are lined.

Those are some very nice looking LWBs! I like the color on those. Hope that they cheered you up for your root canal!

The walnut shell extra stitching is due to being unlined.
I have a pair that happens to be at recrafting right now due to get stitching replaced.
Ill show a before and after pic when I get them back.
