Ha! Challenge extended! Good luck
Uh oh...Da shxt dun hit da fan!
I've seen those boots and worn them. I actually liked them. The leather looked and felt good and they were comfortable. They looked and felt absolutely solid.
I just didn't know if i could justify the price for them given you can get AE's for close to that. Additionally, I liked the look of the frye james boot more so I gravitated to that. Shame that AE doesn't make something like this...
Anyway, my verdict is that they're pretty awesome if you're looking for that kind of build. I almost snagged them for 200 from JAB when they were having a sale recently, but missed it unfortunately. They would have been solid at that price.
Just wondering, how do you know so much? Does you job have what to do with shoes or is it just something that interests you?
MWS is like The Cloud. But shoes.
MWS has an amazing knowledge of the shoe making process.
My Black Shell Harrison's (Cap Toe Balmorals) come in tomorrow!!! Looking forward to finally seeing then.
The firm that bought out AE is planning on outsourcing labor, not just offshoring it. Realistically, what did you expect?
If you think about it, there's no other reason why the PE firm would be interested in the company.
Where did this info come from?
Since "the news," this thread has been surprisingly slow. I imagine people caressing their AE's on the floor and hoping for a miracle.
Wait, did I miss that? I haven't read anything about those plans anywhere.
The little I have seen about the plans for AE (i.e. the announcement email) said that it "remains committed to its 'Made in the USA' manufacturing strategy and its expanding Port Washington, Wis. manufacturing operation."
(Honestly, how expensive is labor in Wisconsin these days, anyway? ... )
I think they work for Usinger's Bratwurst and New Glarus Beer.
I've seen some of the AE by Allen Edmonds in nordy rack and was pretty confused before I knew about them actually.
I'm from Wisconsin. They work for MGD Light.
