There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Just got a call saying they couldn't. She didn't specify why. I'll ask when I pick up my shoes. I'm hoping it's the wear on the heel and not because they are RL by AE.

    Hi all,

Longtime lurker, first time poster. Just a small collection of AE shoes. Only one pair of firsts - Brown McAllisters from the recent sale. A few pairs of seconds, including some 6th Aves in Chestnut (akin to the Sanfords it seems) from NR, along with Neumok in grey (also from the Rack), wondering if they're an MTO or what, since the Neumok doesn't come in grey to my knowledge.

Anyway, was wondering what you all think of the pair of Walnut Strands I just snagged on eBay. They seem to be seconds (I see a faint seconds sole mark in one of the photos), and there appears to be a no warranty stamp (but I can't tell based on the photos - the seller says is a "no returns" mark). Anyway, based on the soles I'd guess they've been worn no more than once or twice. A few minor blemishes on the medallion area / toebox (I see a faint crease), but I think for $149 I got a decent deal.

    What do you guys think?

It look like used shoes but as far as price is concern $149 is good deal. I think you need to do shoe polish and change the shoe lace for making brand new shoes.

I'm interested in hearing this answer as well. The heels of my tan Sandersons seem to be wearing down rather quickly compared to my other shoes (and even compared to my dark brown Sandersons), and I'm wondering if I'm gonna be SOL.

You could always just take them to a respected local cobbler.

Or lacking one, send them to B Nelson in NYC.

Walnut grain MacNeils today. I know a lot of people don't like the walnut with navy, but I like it with a sport coat.[IMG]

    Chris,

Yes, most traditionalists do not like it. But I love that color combo as well and if you like it, go for it! :)

Also a +1 for going with LWBs and posting a shoefie on the thread.

If I recall correctly, AE does not re-craft the RL shoes due to some sort of a licensing agreement. It shouldn't be too difficult to find someone else to re-heel or re-sole the shoes though. B Nelson is always highly recommended by SF members.

On a quest to continue to lighten my burgundy cordovan Leeds, will be hitting them with as much sun as I can and some generous wear in the rotation.

Here they are in some natural light this morning.

Vs. the burgundy cordovan MacNeils in the same light that I want to try and keep dark.

I'm not personally a fan of walnut shoes with dark navy suits (although I own a lighter navy linen suit that might work ok, if I didn't think that brown, chili, and burgundy looked so much better), but plenty SF members who are way more skilled and knowledgable than I seem to pull off the combination well.

Odd trouser/SC combinations offer more possibilities, clearly...

With the more intense Spring/Summer sun, you should be able to see notable lightening after a week or so. Just be sure to change the orientation on a daily basis to even out the exposure on the different sides of the shoe. I did a lightening "treatment" on a pair of DB X F burgundy shell LWBs. The shoe started out with a uniform dark burgundy colour and ended up much lighter with reddish-brown tones. The treatment does dry out the shell, so be prepared to condition. [IMG] [IMG]
