Merlot BB McAllisters today. The color looks great in the sunlight.

Just placed my very first (though probably not my last...) MTO with Allison.

Who else is doing the medallion-less Strand? What are you getting it in?

I believe it was me who finally figured out how they could do it (she said no at first)! I haven't yet decided what make up (or even color) I am going with... Fighting really hard not to order it in walnut, brown and burgundy...

I only know the wider lasts, but I would start looking at Simpson, Alcudia and Robert. The Forest last fits me the same as a D width in AE's 5 last as a point of reference. Rain and Inca are wider than Forest, so you'll want to stay away from these.

This pleases me. A medallion-less Strand would be an awesome shoe. Are you getting it in brown calfskin to wear as a dress shoe with suits?

I went pretty plain: Brown Burnished Calf, flat brown welt, combination tap sole, and transparent brown edge. I think it'll look killer with the broguing around the throat, toe, and heel without the medallion.

I was in the air between merlot and brown, but practicality (in my wardrobe, at least) won out for now.

Did they mark up the cost at all for this MTO? I mean I know the MTO fee is waived for all the other orders we have placed, but you're practically creating a new shoe for them (sorta). $345 before tax?

Since we're redesigning shoes, I'll take a Shaker Heights in chili sans tweed.

i'm definitely going with calf... but i haven't decided on the color (and i am actually considering ordering it in walnut, brown & burgundy)... i guess i have a problem with getting every shoe in every color... but i guess that admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery!

i would be open to suggestions if anyone wants to weigh in:

    currently in my closet:
    in black:
    Park Avenue
    Strand
    Quinton

    in brown:
    Park Avenue
    Strand
    Dryden

    in merlot/burgundy
    Park Avenue
    Strand (MTO Arrived today!)
    Fifth ave

    in walnut:
    Park Avenue
    Strand
    Fifth ave

I know that the Strand and McAllister are built on same last...but I'm sure I've heard before there are differences in sizing, specifically that the former fits larger the the latter. Any experience here?

In my personal experience, my McAllisters are looser than my Strands. Not sure if thats because they are an MTO... doubt it. When I first got sized in the McAllister, I went down a width compared to strands and Nuemoks but when I bought them, I decided to stick with my normal size.
