Thanks for the reply! Whats the best email address for them?
This is what AE does. They start with a walnut shade and burnish to achieve the darker 'bourbon' color. The bourbon is not the actual dyed color of the original leather. You can burnish further to darken it more (to a point. Obviously there will be some limit).
Mine look identical, too - just like in the pictures posted above.
As previously mentioned, I'm going to order a pair of Bayfield as MTO this week. I don't want to spend money on shell at the moment so I'm thinking of just going with the standard options as the boot came when it was originally made. Anyone have other ideas on what you might change? I would primarily use these in non-work situations although on the really crummy New England winter days I would probably wear them to work with a business casual outfit.
I was Googling and something caught my eye. When you guys talk about the welt color versus the sole edge, is this what you're talking about? I like the natural color on top and the brown on the edge. How do you think this would look on a pair of brown CXL Bayfield? Since the boot below is brown CXL I imagine it would look just like that. I think I also like those flat laces.
Edit: With flat laces - http://selvedgeforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=3417.0
Edit (again): One more question... I'm an 8E on the 1 last. Do you all wear the same in this boot considering the Poron insole?
Teaser!!! Cappuccino shell Leeds are here. Won't be able to rip them open till lunch time, tho...
I wish someone would tell me where to buy Allen Edmonds shoes here in Europe.
I know of one shop in London that carries a limited range at very high prices. MacNeils at about twice the US price. And that's it.
I get mine by a complicated delivery route. Jeffersonville ship to my sister-in-law in Massachusetts, who then brings them over in her luggage to me, on her once a year trips to Europe.
Well, I got my suede strands last week in 10.5 D and had to return them. I love the shoe and they fit great...but they were a little long and my heel was slipping. There was also a little room side to side in the heel.
I'm debating ordering a 10D to see if they'll fit. Anyone have experience with how much more narrow they are in a half size down?
I'm just not sure if I'll get back into an actual store that has them by tomorrow
I know they just might not fit me, but I love the shoes and am hoping I can find a fit.
Do you have any mercy? Go open them up and post the pictures!
The inaugural wearing of my Shell Brown Jeffersons. So far so good.
Can we work out a deal for some C&Js?

Need some advice from the pros here. I picked up a pair of Walnut Daltons during the RDA, but am wondering if I should have tried the chocolate or bourbons instead since I already have the following:
Walnut RL Sanderson
Walnut Strands (just picked up with Dalton)
Black Park Ave
Thanks in advance.
PSA: On AE's website Banff slippers on sale for RDA at $59!!! 3 week lead time but $59 is a steal. I ordered a 10.5D in black. Went half size up. Excited!
Given you have the above, I'd definitely exchange the Daltons for something in the dark brown family. Either chocolate or bourbon, both are great colors.
Haha. I did sneak a quick peek...HOLY CRAP! Pics soon...
