Anyone have the Rothsay, or have photos of them in the wild? I find them intriguing.
Was curious and I'm winding the day down at work so I did a little sleuthing. You can still search for posts by him and with a little sorting you can see what happened. Not pretty.
It's a beautiful thing -- the photo on his site makes that much very clear. I emailed Allison to see if Allen Edmonds had anything comparable... and so naturally she's going to put me together an MTO wide basic dress belt in English Tan Dublin leather to match my shoes, honoring the RDA price and charging no MTO fee.
I think a lot of people here need a bit of wabi sabi in their life.
I'll have mine Friday. I'll climb a mountain and post a pic...
I too have a Saddleback briefcase, the large chestnut to be specific. It is a wonderfully well made product. I highly recomend their products. It seems I get compliments on it almost daily. Also, Dave and the staff at Saddleback are wonderful people that will ensure your satisfaction.
Strawfuts with mesh fabrics are on sale on Amazon for under $140-$165 depending size/color. Not my style but thought I'd pass along to my fellas here.
I tried them on in the store a couple days ago. I absolutely loved them. Along with the Patriots (I don't own a loafer), they will be my next AE purchase. I really great casual boot.
I also reached out to AE today to see if they would be offering the Rothsay in bourbon or burgundy...they responded by asking which color I would prefer. I said burgundy. If you have an opinion I can pass it along.
What do you guys think of using a Sonicare to buff out scuffs on cordovan shoes?
So, awhile back I complained about lack of suede, and thought that a suede strand in dark brown would really go this fall. BOOM! We got it. Thanks Paul!
Now, lets get a movement going and see what else we can shake out of the tree. 5 last, 1 last, etc. all those round toes. Now Paul, you've played with the chisel toe last 333 in the upper classes. But how about something special for the masses? How about a shiny burgundy/brown built-up like the mainline shoes? A plain cap toe like Harrison, but put a deep burgundy/brown calf on it like a Carmina. Something where I can spit-shine the cap so that I can see myself.
Peace to all ya soles....
One pair left on sale in a Size 9 D
+1. My Saddleback briefcase and shell PAs, both with wabi sabi to spare!
I stopped at the AE store on North Michigan avenue while on a trip to Chicago earlier today. Once again, the suede Strand didn't strike me as a particularly beautiful shoe. Most importantly, I didn't like the quality of the suede. It's a little rough and it contradicts with the dressy look of the shoe. I find the suede on other AE shoes--such as the Patriots--to be of a much better quality (or to look much better on a finished product).
Later today I also stopped by a newly opened Church's store. They have a much better looking version of the Strand, albeit at 2 to 3 times the cost. The suede however, is miles ahead of that AE uses for the Strand.
Alden's suede cap toe also looks much better, imo
Re: Merlot McAllisters
So I have my pair of BB McAllisters that look great but want them to look even better. I opted to get the AE polish in Merlot… should I also get Burgundy Carnuba Wax or Neutral Carnuba Wax?
Why would one get colored wax over neutral?
