if I donate a pair of shoes, and I get 35$, how long do I have to use that 35$? Does it expire? Can I use it online?

For your Residency Interviews let me also suggest that how your clothes fit is probably more important to overall impression than the shoes (assuming the shoes are of decent quality and good condition). So, make sure the shirts you wear for both occasions fit properly and the pants as well. Nice shoes won't make up for baggy clothing. Wear a belt of similar color to your shoes - black dress belt with the suit and a more casual brown belt with the khakis. Belt doesn't need to match exactly the color of brown shoes but just a reasonable proximity.
If you do go with the Walnut Strands I've found they work best with khaki colors (light or british). I don't recommend wearing them with navy or charcoal. The darker the pants the darker the shoes you should wear in general. There are always exceptions but in any interview process your goal should not be bold fashion statements. Which also means, leave the colorful socks at home too.

The goal is to appear neat and well put together and that's it. It should not be BOLD.

just found the answer to my own question:

    ONLINE

Can't make it to a store? Donate your shoes on AllenEdmonds.com.
Add any regular price pair of Allen Edmonds shoes to your cart and enter the promo code HONOR (all uppercase) at checkout. Then, follow these easy steps to donate your shoes:
    1. When you receive your shipment, place a pair of gently worn shoes into the same corrugated shipping box in which you received your
      Allen Edmonds shoes.
    2. Ship your the corrugated shipping box directly to Soles4Souls[IMG] (via any shipping method you choose) to the following address.
      Soles4Souls, Inc.
      1169 County Road 868
      Wadley, AL 36276
      (256) 395-0268
Your shoes will be sent to the Soles4Souls' distribution facility where they will be sorted and distributed to people in need.
By using this promo code you are confirming to Allen Edmonds that, per the honor code, you will be sending gently worn shoes to Soles4Souls. Promo code valid through 3/16/14. (Please note that the honor code will only work with a regular price shoe purchase and will not work on non-shoe purchases such as clothing, belts and other accessories.)

I think it is remarkable that AE trusts the world enough to do this. This sort of trust is unheard of for a company of AE's magnitude. It shows that they really do want to help this charity out, they aren't just doing it as a publicity stunt.

My respect for AE just increased tenfold, and it was already pretty high.

At least no one has complained they can not use the code for clearance items :)

Spiker, I'm in the exact same boat as you. Preparing for interview season in the fall for residency. I plan to wear my brown Park Aves with a charcoal or Navy suit for interview day and probably my walnut Strands for pre-interview dinners with chinos or dark jeans, which probably will most likely be with the residents. I think the key is to look professional, conservative, and not stand out in any way sartorially. Your approach seems sound with the black Park Aves. I think you have some more wiggle room with the dinners. As for residency and on, if all goes well I'll be wearing clogs or sneakers with my scrubs everyday.

Wearing Walnut Strands with dark jeans will definitely stand out. That's a rather bold contrast.

    I would
I would not wear walnut strands with dark jeans - like many, when I first got my strands that is how I envisioned wearing them, but it really is a super high-contrast look, and the shape/design of the strand is just too formal to wear with denim. Wear the hell out of them with chinos and slacks, but a good brown blucher wingtip would be better than a strand for pairing with jeans.

I've been interested in the Clark Streets since first learning about them. With the Soles for Souls discount, I decided to try a pair now, convincing myself that it would be a for a good cause while getting a slight discount on them.

They arrived today and I think they are keepers. The natural CXL color to me is perfect. I've always thought of natural CXL as a greyish-tan color, and these are pretty much along the lines of what I expected and similar to other natural CXL shoes I've owned before.

The only thing making me think about returning them is that these are probably a good bet to end up in the Clearance section in the not too distant future at possibly a great deal. But I actually think they are worth the money at $260, so there's a good chance I'll keep them.

A couple of other natrual CXL shoes (non-AE) I've owned for comparison:
Carmina: probably at the darkest end of the natural CXL spectrum
    [IMG]
Alden: fairly typical natural CXL from what I've seen

How versatile is the color? They look similar to the Lasalle being split toe. Are they comfortable? Do you mind taking more pics of you wearing them?

I think the key for interview attire is to dress very well without being ostentatious. Fine to have a white linen PS with your suit etc, but don't draw undue attention to yourself.

I'm starting the med school application process this summer, should be a fun time!

The Clark Streets are indeed the same as the Lasalle (AE's description states this). I find if very comfortable as the 108 last seems to be a nice fit for me (I also own a pair of Mora 2.0's). I personally think the natural CXL color is very versatile as I've worn shoes in this color with light and dark pants (such as tan, olive, navy, grey, brown). I like natural CXL with denim as well.

Since I'm still kind of deciding whether I'm keeping these, I'm not sure when I will wear them next. But if I do, I'll try to post a few more pictures later.

At home today, so gave the shells a little TLC.

Decided not to strip the factory product off of the park aves as I did my kennies, because I think if like the former to appear slightly darker, and the cordovan polish achieves that.

Other two shoes are a few rounds of Mac/Reno a away from being bare. They won't be due for another Reno treatment for some time though.

Still a little perplexed about how to mitigate the big roll in the park ave. any suggestions?

    Looks awesome.

What was your process for the PA's? I have a pair of Burg Leeds that I like the colour of but am totally disappointed in their factory level of shine.

If I'm a 9D in the 65 last, would an 8.5E in the same last be a possible fit? I'm looking at a sale pair, but the 9D's have been sold out.

    Thanks!

Depends on how much room you have in the front on the 9D's. You're going to be slightly more 'forward' so to speak on the wider shoe, though the width will probably be just a little wider if even.

I'm looking at one of the new clearance items in the 333 last. I don't own any others on that last but have AE shoes in several other lasts. Does anyone have an opinion on how that last fits relative to others and one's TTS? The chat support on AE's website suggested the same size as I wear on the 65. The problem is I wear EE on the 65 which is not available on the 333.

How does everyone else size the 333 compared to other lasts and their normal TTS?

    Thanks in advance.

    On the 65 last I wear a 9.5D (or sometimes a 9.5E)

    On the 333 last I wear a 9 E

A 9.5D and a 9E would be roughly the same width but because of the 333's longer toe I went down a half size in length.
