Nordstrom sells them. I wear the same size in Cliftons as I do in Strands.

You could also try getting a pair of 2nds from the Shoebank.

I only see burnished burgundy on nordstrom's website. is that the same as the brown now?

Thoughts on the new Mojave chukka? Might be time to upgrade my Clark's desert boots

I had a pair of shoes once---Hudson oxfords from Frye, not AE--with crepe soles and I didn't like them. They soaked up oil and grime like you wouldn't believe, like sponges. Maybe all crepe isn't the same and AE crepe is different from the pair I had. But I do think the Mojaves are nice looking, the suede ones, anyway. I'd probably be willing to give AE the benefit of the doubt and give a pair a try at some point.

I just went to Zappos and checked out Clarks desetrt boots and saw that they have crepe soles. So I guess I'm not telling you anything you don't already know about the idiosyncrasies of crepe.

Why doesn't AE make it easier to find out what is available in the outlet sales? It is a single data base all the stores are using. Why does every single buyer have to either call or email to get the list?

I emailed two days ago about the 2/250 sale and still have heard nothing. I thought they were in business to sell things.

You are spot on. It might be that if the discounts go mainstream, they fear that more people would buy shoes at the lower prices and sales at full retail would be threatened. I have a feeling that not a ton of folks are using the outlets because the information is not widely publicized. I sent them a message last night and got a reply this morning. They didn't have what I wanted, but I still appreciated the fast response. A company like AE needs those retail sales to keep in the black.

What are you gentlemen planning on getting for the Rediscover America sale?

Torn between getting just One pair of Shell Strand

or Two pairs of calf (1 walnut/bone Broadstreet + 1 brown Strand)

Doing some winterization today. A thorough dosing of Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Protectant will hopefully have my Long Branches and Bayfields sufficiently water-repellant for the coming season. The Bayfields didn't really change at all, but the LBs have darkened quite a bit:

400

The leather seems pretty porous, so I think it really soaked the Obenauf's in. I'm hoping they'll lighten back up a bit once they're completely dried, but don't hate the current colour.

was debating if I should return the 7D Kenwoods and exchange for 7E instead, but then the rubber heel just fell off on both shoe. Made that decision easy.

I think the mojaves have rubber soles. And I own clarks already so I know about their crepe soles. And I agree, its my least favorite part of Clark's desert boots. It gets black and nasty looking quickly and wears down.

I'm interested in the brown suede strands. If they're only 15% off I'll likely wait for seconds though.

The Mojaves do have a crepe sole. I think they're a bit overpriced when you consider Clarks can be had for $100.

Just looking through, is the $299 shell deal still going on? Is it restricted to closeout models?

Edit: Apparently the original time frame was wrong or extended.

No, it was a four day sale.
