It's because of McArthur or Uncle Mac. Pretty sure he is the one who started it and frequently posts it. Everyone else follows suit out of respect for him and his amazing collection of shells and creation of the Mac polishing and break-in methods for caring for your fine shell cordovan shoes.

Just picked up a new pair of Hamptons in black on AE's website, clearance plus 25% off a couple days ago -$156 to my door. Not exactly my favorite ones but I couldn't pass it up.

When you get older you will understand what it means. Although getting old is a privilege that not everyone gets to enjoy so IMO you shouldn't complain about getting older if your fortunate enough to do so. My Grandmother used to preach that there was nothing more important than your health. At the time it didn't make sense to me, it certainly does now. But I'm not old, at least not yet. [IMG]

AmazonBasics make sure to check the quality pricing- for 48 it is only $22.50 and they come in handy for a lot more than shoes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009FUFCDQ/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=automotive

Absolutely beautiful and extremely well done! Congrats and I hope the Maiden Voyage went well for you, your pictures are great. I have the McAllister in cappuccino shell with the chili welt and wheeled edge, I feel it is perfect for those shoes as well as your Strands. My cappuccino Dundee's change color also however my cappuccino McAllister and cappuccino Bayfield's not so much, they are truly darker than brown and more consistent in color. I'm glad you got a pair that change shades in different lighting, there is something almost magical about them.

Fantastic bucksfan, as always. I really struggled with picking up a pair of black shell Leeds that were available in my size during the $299 sale. I resisted and "won", convinced myself that I already have the black calf Leeds so didn't need them. You present a very powerful case for more black shell in the stable.

Got my factory seconds Allen Edmonds Cambridges in Black Shell Cordovan the other day... Finally had a few moments to snag a few pictures of them today. They are my first pair of Black Shell Cordovan. I have most other shades of Shell Cordovan, but have never made the plunge into Black. These will be replacing my well used Black McAllisters (which are calf). Hope that you enjoy them! They look terrific especially for being seconds. The right shoe has some ever so slight creasing in them and that is why I think that they are seconds... Nothing that wouldn't happen in the first three minutes of doing the carpet break-in and they are well placed, so I have no gripes here. Definite keepers! Without further ado, I will let the shoes speak for themselves this time.

Mac method is overrated and not proven over a longth period of time or wear.

+ he gets no credit for the words "wear in good health". Those words have been spoken for many years across many interwebs.

[IMG] don't feel bad. I got into one of these tiffs when I was new here as well. Consider it an initiation... or something like that... Why can't we all just sing the happy song or whatever?? I'm gonna dream about my future fifth streets in brown... that should do the trick for me!

What color is the edge. Is it chili too or light brown? This pair looks fantastic through and through. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4

because they are all members of Mac's creepy Alden loafers/argyle socks/old legs worshiping cult, and Mac is the leader. I don't mind Mac the person, heck, I don't KNOW Mac the person, and the phrase "wear in good health" doesn't bother me so much. However, the clunky shoes, the argyles, the old man legs with the pants pulled up to the knees, the uncle/nephew creepy pedophile stuff... That is just too much for me.

I know right???? AE appreciation thread is the one place you can go on this site and not run into vulgarity and arguing. More ogling of those magnificent cappuccino shell strands, and less arguing gentlemen... There is no hurt feeling a beautiful shoe like that can't heal!
