It was a website glitch apparently--the full range of widths is now available for these. The website pics (from different angles of the shoe) have also been modified.

Must be an error, but the $35 discount on for the soles 4 souls program works on all clearance stuff, not just shoes. I didn't purchase anything but I added a clearance belt to my cart and the code took off $35. Any regular priced item besides shoes did not work. Just an fyi, I don't know if they will honor those prices because it clearly says in their ad only for shoes. Just thought it was curious.

I don't like the sole color on the cappuccino cordovan shoes, maybe it's just me.

Is it true that one should size down half a size for the cordovan shoes? Thinking of getting the cappuccino cordovan mcallister and my regular walnut mcallister's are 10.5D which is a half size down from my regular shoe size.

Anybody own the strand in a calf and a shell?

I've tried on lots of shoes in calf and shell and found I was the same size in both materials.

Question for all the AE experts. I wear 9.5E in the 5 last and I'm thinking about getting a 10D in a MacNeil (7 last). 10D because it's a little shorter in the toe and supposedly a little wider than the 5 last. My question is, if the lasts are the same would a 10D shoe differ in width compared to a 9.5E shoe? Would the 10D or the 9.5E be wider?

Ok, so that's two questions. Thanks for the help either way.

No - that is not true based on my experience. The same shoe (or two shoes on the same last for that matter) will fit the same in calf or shell.

If the walnut mcallisters fit you well, go for the same size in shell.

P.S. new pics up on the AE website!

Your best bet would be to try them on. The 5 last is longer and thinner than the 7 last, but the 7 last gives you more width in the ball of the foot that may or may not hit your foot in the right place, depending on size. I am a 12D in both lasts, and they both fit me great.

Thanks to both of you. I am also a 10D in the Malvern, but that has a very narrow toe box. I will most likely go with 10D. Thanks again.

I'll add my experience here, too - I haven't worn the 5 last, but the MacNeil was short for me in my measured size, so I had to size up.

I'm not currently wearing glasses, but if I was, I would take them off dramatically when viewing these pictures.
