1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

A good vacation can be better than an amazing shoe collection, but I've found too many of my vacations end up being a disappointment.

They're a little dull yet but each time I Mac method them at the end of the day they shine a little brighter.

Mine are slightly dull, but they shine up fairly well.
They look good, keep brushing (1/2)^3

how often are you disappointed when basking in the glory of your $5K shoe collection? Honestly, unless I were going to Mongolia, I would rather stay home than go anywhere else in the world. Awesome shoe collection or not, I'm just not a vacation kind of guy.
yep... shoes are a win-win for sure. I love the hunt, I love wearing them after the hunt, and I even love caring for them after wearing them.

The best thing to do is to buy the shoes WHILE you are away on vacation. That's when you know things are going well.

The problem I run into is convincing my wife the money is better spent on shoes for ME than on a vacation for US.

    She can be so selfish.

When my wife and I went on our honeymoon to the UK a few years ago, I almost tried to incorporate a trip to the Northampton factories to have some lasts made up and order some bespoke shoes... and then I realized that would cost more than the rest of the vacation (for both of us) combined. :)

even better would be a vacation devoted specifically to shoes... A tour of the united states (or the world) visiting all of the best shoe making facilities as well as the best retailers. Make it one of those -grab everything you see and get it for free- type of all expenses paid shopping sprees and you've got yourself a can't miss dream vacation.

My girlfriend and I are planning a Europe trip in the fall and I'm definitely planning on stopping by a Carmina store or a C&J if we get to London.

FWIW, I think a good vacation is probably a better use of $5k than a $5k collection of shoes if you had to choose since it's something you can share with friends, family or significant other. If you have $5k worth of shoes, I would imagine you could take a $5k vacation every now and then.

Bummer. Just received word that they weren't able to fix my brown shell Strands. I guess the benefit is that by the time I receive the replacement, I will have long since forgotten paying for them.
