Wow these are nice! I already have a pair in chocolate and walnut. Would it be overkill to get it in Bourbon?

For the break in method, do you have to use shoe trees after you wear the shoes on carpet for an hour? I think that Mac recommends doing it for 3 days.

Can someone explain what exactly "brush off" leather means in the description for the Morgan wingtips?

Personally, you'd be crazy to only own two....

But seriously, I just received my pair of Walnut Dalton's from the Nordstrom Sale and they are by far the nicest foot covering I have ever seen in person. I'm waiting for a pair in Chocolate to come up in my size and am going to get them ASAP. Its not a huge step from there to bourbon....

    +1

Let's hope it's not another euphemism like "polished cobbler." LOL

**UPDATE: I just asked customer service on chat and here's what they said about it:

Jared: The Brush off process takes a black shoe and burnishes the shoes with dyes to give it more of a shiny polish look with color peaking through.
Jared: This is full grain leather, but it goes through lots of processing to give it that brushed off look.
Jared: The shoes will wear like any of our other calf skins and the brush off leather will keep its color. You only need to use conditioner cleaner on these shoes since they do not polish because of the brush off process, but will still show a shine kind of like a patent leather.

I've got to hand it to AE customer service. I was going into the chat thing thinking "they will probably have no idea and give me some boilerplate response." But no. I'm impressed with their knowledge. Just another reason why their CS is the gold standard.

Hmmm, I actually discussed this same thing with the SA at my AE and he seemed to say the opposite. The shoe was predominantly a color with the black polish over top. So as you would wear the shoe overtime, more of the black would rub off and more color would show through. Perhaps he got it the wrong way around. Either way, the explanation tends to mean that the shoes will eventually change color.

A web search produced this definition:

Brush-Off Leather: First the leather tannery adds color to the leather, and then in the boot manufacturing process a brushing wheel takes off some of the color for a richer finish.

Just polished up my recent MTO and figured I'd share some quick pics.

Cappuccino shell Kenilworth with double sole. Worn about 5x, one coat of Reno out of the box, just applied second coat before taking these.

Little more custom, my homage to foo's oneshoe - burgundy shell MacNeil made on 5 last with flat welt. Unworn, just brushing, no Reno.

I got these two particular styles MTO because I think they won't be out of place with anything from chinos to a suit (although some CBD SF purists may disagree).

I did the same thing, by e-mail. Anyone have an idea roughly how long it is likely to take - are we talking days, weeks, months?
