1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Can't remember the model name, but the PAish shoe AE makes for Joseph a Banks might be what you're looking for... It's not on the 5 last

Actually, they are the Boardrooms. The Nathans are a remake of the 5th Avenues.

Good morning everyone, and thanks very much for the quick and useful responses re the PA/FA/Hale comparison. I still have a few days to mull it over Hale-wise, but now I have some good food for thought. If there are any other comments, I'm all ears.

haha, I started a thread asking that same question! I would love to know more. The last looks Barrie to me and they're welted in Mass. But the uppers are from Italy, etc, etc.

They are GY welted and at $300 is basically AE prices.

I posted the few articles I could find on the other thread.

Either way, both of those would work for the OP, as I don't believe either are on the 5 last...

Yeah, I agree. I really am not sure which last they use for their Jos A Bank shoes. I used to know. :-(

Do any of you know if it's possible to utilize the recrafting service to increase the width from the original size? (i.e. from D to E)

It's come up in the past. A cursory search reveals nothing, but my recollection is that they aren't interested in recrafting a shoe around a different last.

I'm going to guess no. I had a pair of Aldens that were a 1/2 size too big (all their lasts make fitting a challenge) and asked if they could recraft them on a smaller last and size down. They said no. Seems as though it would be easier to make a pair smaller than larger, which, I suppose, would require leather that isn't there.

    He doesn't mean last style (333, 565, 234, 222, etc). He means the physical last itself. A 333 10 D is a different foot model than 333 10 E

According to a thread on Ask Andy, which linked to a now "404" page on AE's site, the Boardroom is the PA on the 7 last and the Nathan is the FA on the 8 last.

    For whatever that's worth.

Which boots to get ahhhhh? I have zero boots right now. Wear slacks and a shirt to work and would sometimes like to wear it with dark denim as well. Looking for something in walnut type of color. Daltons? I dont want something too dressy though. I think even the Daltons look a bit dressy no?

Your best bet is to wait for Brooks Brothers 25% off everything sale. That comes around pretty frequently.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm wearing some AE loafers today. Don't know if I'll be able to post a pic with all this family around!
