There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'm wearing a burgundy manistee belt today. They are indeed very nice. I also have the regular AE belts in brown and black but the manistee is much better IMO.

I thought Dainite would be just as dressy as leather with the exception that the edges are black. Isn't that the whole point: a durable weatherproof sole that like looks like a black leather sole?

    E.g., the Haight boot:

    http://a3.zassets.com/images/z/2/0/2/3/1/2/2023125-p-MULTIVIEW.jpg

I'm pretty sure I'm set on bourbon. Just wondering about all of the other myriad options (upper Stitching, welt color/type, edge Dressing, wheeled edge, etc). Trying to create a boot that can be worn with a tie and blazer as well as casually.

He more than likely means he got belt seconds for $40.

The belt seconds is something I haven't heard about but need to add a few belts to my collection. I'd be interested in more info on discounted belts.

Yes they were "seconds" though I can't see anything wrong with them.

Gave another round of spit shining to my rutledges. Still not where I want them but getting there. Took a pic of the AE family, excluding my boots.

Instead of dreaming on, friend, I contacted Allison about ordering a custom MTO (disclaimer- I've already had one MTO made for me, so maybe this influenced things):

My email to her sent at 4:17 pm:
    Hi Allison,

First off, happy Thanksgiving! I'm interested in a pair of the Eagle County (I'm sure you've received several requests today) StyleForum MTO with chocolate calf, either a combo tap sole or dainite sole, and flat welt. Would this qualify for the $197 sale price?

    Thanks

Her response sent at 5:59pm (not sure why she said good morning):

    Good Morning Jon,

Yes we could honor the sale price of $197.00. I am out of the office on Friday, but I will be back in on Monday at 9:30AM CST if you would like to discuss further.

Also, was your wife still interested in having a pair of shoes made up?

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well,

    Allison Meyer

Still think I (or we) need to dream on?

She still owes me an email from Monday. She's never been quite prompt about responding to me.

Then this is in direct contradiction with what she told another member earlier. What store is she at?

What she told the other member was that they could not do a custom makeup of a Black Friday only model (Carson city) but they will honour the sale price for custom makeups of regular line models (Eagle county).

Looking for opinions on an acceptable "go to" black cap bal for formal settings (interviews, weddings, funerals). PAs of FAs are ideal, but I have trouble with the 5-last. I'm considering the Hale because they're currently on sale. Are they an acceptable alternative, or is it a little too busy?

The Harrison is the next choice, but there's a signficant price jump.

It's up to you, but I believe the hale to be less formal due to the perforations.

If the Harrison's fit you and you like their style (and have budget for them), then I would go for them. They are a sleeker style, have a higher quality leather, have a nice soft lining (lamb skin), and have some great finishing touches (sole and wheeled edges). I think that they are worth the extra money. I got a pair made in Black Shell as a MTO and they are absolutely amazing.
