Suede Strands just made the "gotta have" list.

That PTB looks like the Black Hills I'm wearing today.

Love that the Dalton is getting expended into some additional offerings, really great boot.

I wish the Amok still existed. I dont understand why AE no longer has a plain suede chukka. IMO a suede PTB and chukka are gaps in their lineup.

I am emailing AE right now to see if those can be made in a narrower width than advertised. I was going to be finished after the burgundy shell MacNeils, but I've always wanted (and spouted off about) an unadorned black calf wholecut to go with black tie... here's hoping I can put my money where my mouth is.

The new suede Strand looks like it doesn't have the traditional leather insole based on the photos. If you look closely, you can see small wrinkles in it, which suggests it is a fiberboard insole covered with foam and a thin piece of leather. Disappointed...

You are now chatting with 'Jared'
Jared: Hello. How may I assist you?
OptoDoc: Does the new brown suede Strand have the same insole as the other strand models?
    Jared: Yes it will.

Conversation I just had using the Chat feature on the AE website.

Hmm. Thanks for checking. The photo looks distinctly different, in my opinion, but I'll reserve judgement until someone has a pair in hand to say for sure.

On second thought, I won't reserve judgement. That's clearly not the traditional leather insole.

    Bourbon Strand with traditional insole:

The shine and the wrinkly appearance suggests a thin piece of leather covering foam.

I think I tied the shoe laces a bit lose in that picture -- I just quickly put them on to take the photo. When I tie them properly, the gap is a little narrower. And I agree, I just started wearing this pair (2nd time to wear them) and I expect the gap to become narrower as my foot settles in the shoe more.

I also think a wider pair would not help with the gap (at least not significantly). I believe the gap relates mainly to the height of the foot's instep, whereas the the width mainly applies to the bottom of the foot/shoe and not the "height".

In any case, the D is indeed snug; however, I personally like my shoes to be snug rather than too roomy. That's why I want to make sure that going for wider width would not make my foot swim inside the shoe. I'm so tempted to get the E to try it on, but I'm currently abroad, so I only have one shot at ordering the right pair. Anyway, I'll probably end up ordering an E. Thanks!

Anyone get confirmation on the 20% off Tanger Coupon? I emailed Jeffersonville, but did not get a response.

I was just checking out the new Strand and noticed it is a $50 upcharge to get the combination sole. Is this new?

I hate that JAB charges almost 11$ for shipping...
    Assuming I want to buy 4 shoe trees Ill divide 11 / 4 = 2.75$

add 2.75 onto 8.75$ price for each shoe tree = 11.50$
I can get them from Nordstrom Rack for 11$ in my area...
Oh well, we almost had a deal JAB...too bad.
