No I didn't, they were purchased from an AE partner on e-bay. They have a good return policy, and so I just want to figure out what size I'd be best to order from them, or if I should ask for a refund, and just pay more to get them from nordstroms and have them fitted. Or should I just go to Nordstroms, get fitted, then use that size for the e-bay retailer?

    Thanks

I agree with optodoc, I don't think exchanging them will make a difference. Not all shoes are going to crease at the same spot on the left and right. Have you ruled out that it's not your feet, i.e., other shoes crease in the same spot on your left and right.

Yeah my other shoes are ok, these ones fit a little more snug and they need to soften up a bit. In the meantime I don't want to create creases in the toe cap, if it's not a size issue, I'm fine stuffing some paper into the toe and "exercising" the shoe for a while to help create a "path of least resistance" for the bend to form. It feels funny where the bend is too, I can feel that bend press on the top of my toe, it's just happening in the wrong spot.

You can certainly care for the Long Branches the same way that one would care for the Dalton (it won't hurt them), but the similarity between the boots ends at the broguing pattern. As far as the differences matter to shoe care, the Dalton is made of dress calf leather, while the Long Branch is made from regular cow-hide. As such, they really can't be considered to be nearly the same.

Land's end sent me the brown McTavish's instead of black, gah!

    My Dalton's arrived though:

Anyone else had a problem completing their Jos A Bank (shoe tree) orders? When I clicked "checkout", it asked me to call a number and would not complete my order. Ended up not being able to buy anything since I didn't have the time to call them.

Just have to wait until the next semi-annual sale, I guess.[IMG]

Not on my end -- they shipped yesterday, I got them this morning, all my shoes have trees and I've got spares for my brother-in-law. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

My replacement Daltons arrived today. Again, a minor impression on the toe but not as noticeable as the other pair (checkered pattern is the window screen). Be careful with the tools AE! Also, something was sticking to my sock driving me crazy. I thought a small piece of the leather lining was missing, but it was adhesive tape from under the insole. I was able to cut it out...adventures in shoe buying. [IMG]

Seriously, though, we could form an investment group and acquire a significant share of the company. The new owners might go public

ugh, that must be frustrating. Are you keeping them? As seconds that wouldn't bother me. But as a replacement pair of firsts? tough call.

No question that AE's customer service is top notch but, based on recent posts, I'm starting to question their QC somewhat.

Not sure if this is a positive or a negative thing. [IMG]
