    E Hinsdale shortwings today.

Real color is more chocolate brown. Flash makes them look like basic brown.

I purchased the LONG BRANCH boots, and then got $104 off on a price match a few weeks after I mentioned it.

I prefer leather soles however leather soles and ice is not a good combination. Each year since I have moved to Mn. at least one person slips on ice and ends up dead in the small city that I live near. This last year it was a young Doctor in his early 30's. When I moved up here from NC Dr. Atkins of the Atkins diet fame had just slipped on ice in NYC and hit his head which caused his death. Everyone back there all warned me that the same thing would happen to me so I am doing my best to prove them wrong :) I do wear leather soles in the snow and ice a lot but can't say it is always the smartest thing to do, even walking across parking lots can be dangerous at times.

Concerning the Wolverine 1K boots if it is CXL boots your looking for I would look hard at the AE Bayfield which is still available at Lands End or Oak Street Bootmakers.

Really?! You wear leather soles in rain, snow and ice? Doesn't that cause severe damage to them?

Water will not hurt them if you allow them to dry naturally without heat and I try to avoid puddles, salt however is another story. I have a rubber maid open shelf above my deep sink and when I get home put my shoes on it where they have plenty of ventilation all the way around. If I had to go through salt or slush during the day then first I use a knuckle brush with saddle soap on the soles and wipe down the uppers after that. By morning they are usually dry and ready for the closet.

I hope that the next webgem is hideous. But if it's not hideous, I hope it's affordable.

:teach: THIS ^ is a beautifully stated, informative and quality answer.
..as to your question.... I am sure you already knew that not all feet can wear all lasts. I am unsure as to whether or not AE would Custom make the Patriot (at a premium ofcourse) for you on a different last; one more agreeable to your feet.

I'd at least try on a wider size. It looks like you have a harp on your foot.

I want Chromexcel Bluchers/Oxfords at the AE price point (rather than the Alden price point). Especially unlined, sort of like the Neumoks, except with CXL rather than the leathers they use.

Email customer service and tell them you want the Paul Grangaard StyleForum special. They may be able to set you up as long as they have some CXL on hand.

I have decided I want a Chukka boot and really like the Amok. I'll see what the shoebank has left kicking around for those, but does anyone have any suggestions for other chukkas?

Wouldn't mind a suede and a leather suggestion.
