That is not normal. I am new to the "good quality shoes" game, but that looks like Walmart shoes...
I would contact AE at [email protected] (customer service) and let them know.
I am sure they will give you clear direction on what to do.
There are many examples, even on this forum, of people having shoes replaced at no charge even after many months of use.
Well it sounds like New Shoes has experience with a similar outcome, so he is likely correct.
As for the insole, the reason I was asking questions about that is because if you were experiencing gemming separation from the insole, your shoe would begin to walk out of shape. Eventually your shoe would fall apart, but it would start by the upper losing it's integrity where it meets the ply-rib (where the upper and insole are joined). Seeing a horizontal crease on the outside of the shoe around the area of the insole (particularly around the joint of the big toe at the ball of the foot) is actually very normal, so that's not causing your other problems. It is common for your foot to "pour" over a little bit during the course of wearing and flexing which causes the leather to flex in that area just a bit. Above the crease is your foot bulge, and below the crease is where it is being held in place by the insole.
David, there is a difference between:
a) suggesting that someone should wait unitl the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in July to see what styles are selected due to the history of deep discounts on AE that go along with the sale.
b) continually telling people you have inside information that you cannot reveal about an amazing sale and that they need to e-mail Nordstrom to get the details. . . . . when that sale is nothing more than the well-known Anniversary sale that happens every year.
There's no harm or malice in what you are doing, but it is over-the-top enough that you can expect some good natured ribbing from the rest of us.
Precisely. I was on pins and needles waiting for some major event, like Nordstrom discontinuing some of their currently stocked AE models and liquidating their stock for some unheard of discount never before seen in the history of department stores or something.
The Anniversary sale happens every year, and reminding newbies of this is helpful and thoughtful. However, telling them about this doesn't constitute breaking anyone's confidence, insider trading, or anything else that may lead to the unraveling of the space time continuum.
Here is one of the shoes I was talking about. The creases are hard to see because the shoe is black and I frequently add conditioner/cleaner to keep the leather supple to aid in the stretching. I've also recently polished them to help make the creasing less evident. I have a crease in the cap as well as two on the vamp as well as another on the inside of the shoe - all proximate to my big toe and where it flexes.
I would show your shoes to AE, since they fit you and will likely try to help you out. I would also, in the future, regularly condition your shoes to avoid excessive creasing.
I agree. If you were given bad advice by an SA, you should have some recourse in this case. It isn't like you just went off and bought a pair of shoes using your own guess on size and paid the price for it.

Yes and no.
The difference this time is . . . if a forum member is wanting to purchase a specific style, color, and size on a future sale - they generally will not get confirmation that their selection will or will not be on sale until the final press release.
But by privately providing a manager's name and email address and asking the same question today . . . the information can be verified by tomorrow in order to decide if waiting is a valid choice . . . and if not, then to go ahead and pay the regular price today.
Let's not forget that the original post listing the precise AE shoes, boots, and loafers in colors and sizes - along with the substantial amount of the discount was posted as a courtesy over a week ago . . . and someone here got upset over the posting and had it deleted.
As a follow up, the simple mention of "who" to contact directly at the store for the same unadvertised information was also deleted!
Now we are left with a watered down version of "Anniversary Sale" starting on July 10th . . . with no specifics of styles, prices, colors, or sizes . . . versus contacting the manager directly for the information needed to make a decision today.

I suspect that was simply a moderator following the rules that StyleForum has set forth regarding advertising and selling in the general forums (non-buying and selling related).
The fine wrinkles in the brouging look almost like some tanning or leather thickness issue .Imho it appears to be a defect . Even a fit prob should not cause that esp. combined with the wrinkles in the vamp . I personally would be very surprised and diappointed if AE did not replace the shoes
I just received second quality for the Delray . Would the Saphir reno cream buff out thees scratch marks?
