Those look rough. Try some Saphir Renovateur before you do anything.

Unfortunatly I don't have any of that. Only AE Leather Lotion or Conditioner Cleaner.

Give it a shot and see how it works out for you. I would also invest in some Renovateur if you're going to continue to purchase shoes that are a little bit more of a project.

Is there a significant difference between Renovateur and Conditioner Cleaner?

Also for "projects" wouldn't Reno'Mat be best?

Anywhere in NYC that I can pick up Saphir products?

    FYI,

It looks like AE is having a sale on their cleaning and care products. Looks like 15% off.

Not sure if this is matched in stores though; would think so.

If you can smell leather 10 feet away from your closet, does it mean that you've purchased too many shoes recently?

Quick question on everyones AE belts, How do you guys take care of them? I have many scratches on my belt from wear and tear and theyre looking a little dry. Do I just use AE conditioner and cleaner and some brushing with a shoe brush?

That shoe looks significantly neglected. As in dirty and likely not polished or conditioned for a long time. I like AE's conditioner cleaner for conditioning leather, but it does not clean nearly as well as Renovateur. Renovateur also does a better job restoring the luster of the leather underneath all that dirt and wear.

The only reason you would need Renomat would be if you need to remove layers of wax and polish from those shoes. And, even then, don't use it until you've read all the shoe care threads on how to properly use it.

You can get Renovateur from Kent Wang or the Hanger Project.

I just use AE conditioner cleaner on my belts occasionally.

IS the AE cleaner/conditioner ok to use on a cordovan belt? My main belt is a black cordovan alden belt and its never been conditioned, its probably time. Or do I need to invest in renovateur? I probably dont need colored cream...do I?

I've used Reovateur on some leather watch straps too, including a genuine crocodile and an alligator strap. They've never looked so rich in colour.

    Thanks for the info.

I do notice that the color of the shoes is much darker than I thought/would like it to be. After conditioning them, should I use polish or cream to restore the color?
