One of my pair was given the wrong edge color - and when I called AE in the recrafting department, I ordered and received the edging natural polish.

Now I have to sand paper the edges down (as others have mentioned here) so that I can gently get to the bare original edge before applying the natural edge polish. (Using an 80-120 grit grade sandpaper first, followed up by a 180-200-250 grit grade to finish it off)

Then I should be ready for the Natural Edge Dressing.

What a delightful story. It would be interesting to know how the posters in this thread look and act "in the wild". There are many of you I'd enjoy having a beer (or coffee) with.

I can only imagine what additional styles the two of you have in mind for your Blog or Style Forum collection:

I know, it's touching isn't it? We're trying to figure out if its got to stay secret like the tree fort sort of thing, or if we dare invite our wives into the inner sanctum of our shoe worship. Lol.

Unless they can invest equal bonding time in cleaning/polishing/caring for their shoes, their passion is a shallow one and is ineligible for membership

Try going a half size up in the narrow. I've waffled between 11E and 11.5D in the 5 last. 11D is definitely too small..except in a Neumok-style unlined, which fit a bit bigger.

I don't think it makes sense to spend $50 on these shoes and another $125 on recrafting when, at the end of the day, you are still going to have a very used shoe with a gross insole. If you are going to go the used shoe route, get something that does not require an immediate $125 investment of recrafting. I've seen Randolphs in much better shape sell for less than $100. I've also seen shell shoes with only a dozen wears sell for under $200. You just have to be patient and keep your eyes on EBay.

Hey, so I got these patriots off eBay- burgundy with combination tap sole. Great deal for what I'm looking at. The only issue I see with them is the rather large crease on the right toe. I read about a spooning method to run the creases out, does that really work?

I must note that I have note done anything to them yet. I will absolutely rub them down with AE conditioner cleaner. I don't have burgundy or merlot(recommended by AE) but I do have neutral, should I go ahead and use that or wait and get some merlot polish?

    Thank you.

I know we all love shoes here but to spoon them... well that's just sick.
