Picked up a pair of factory second Rutledges from the shoe bank. $322. Defects are very minor and do not bother me at all. A bit of discoloration on the inside of the left shoe (using Saphir wax seems to be helping) and some "imperfect" leather on the toe of the right shoe. I think the shoe is pretty boss- its comfy, color is absolutely AMAZING, and I think it matches with a lot of things. [IMG]

I know there are a lot of members posting here with a lot of Allen Edmonds shoes, do you folks ever wear all of them? I have three pairs and I will probably get to each once or twice a week. I don't typically wear dress shoes around the house, dress shoes so not have the padding that I want in my casual shoes, which are typically Sketchers Go Walk Freestyles.

In one day? No, but I supposed I could try if I really wanted to. [IMG]
    In one week? No.
    In a month? Yes.

9 shoe rotation of AE's, Carmina, C&J and Meermin.

Wearing a shoe that gets very little love on here - the Montecito. I picked these up for $95 on 6pm.com about 6 months ago. That was about 7 pairs of shoes ago :)

This could be one of the most brilliant posts I've read in a long time. The key is that scuffing of the soles...also don't go nuts and polish them in front of her or give them any extra special "ahhh these are new shoes" treatment. That's a DEAD GIVEAWAY!!

First, the shoes look great. The color is unbelievable.

Second, do you mind telling me/us why you went with AE Shoe Trees and not a cheaper option at Nordstrom Rack or wait for a Jos A Bank sale?
I guess I am still trying to wrap my head around "proper" shoe trees. I have them in all my shoes, but fear I may not be getting the right size or worrying about them being too tight or too loose.

Those Rutledges look really good! I was very tempted to get a pair during one of the seconds sales where this exact model was one of the featured shoes, but talked myself out of it. Might have to think about it again if it's featured in another sale later on.

I'm actually thinking the opposite that it would probably look better alone. Setting it next to a shoe that looks sleeker makes it more blobby.

Thanks, Tampa, for the kind words. I forgot to include the following suggestions: Destroy all evidence of purchases, including AE or Nordstrom shopping bags. If possible, store boxes in basement, crawl space or preferably the offices (I have a stack of 10 AE an Alden boxes in my office closet). Most importantly, buy dear wife nice stuff from time to time :)

Sevenfold, ColdIron and David...thank you for your replies regarding shoe bags. I am a visual person as well and so will not be bagging any time soon. Those cabinets look amazing, David. Maybe I'll have some built when I make partner.
