Sorry to bump this but before I stretch my new pair I wanted to see if those that were recently talking about it have prepped/treated theirs at all before inserting the stretcher. Thanks!

    Hey,

I purchased the AE conditioner and polish cream for my walnut shoes, but after a year, it seems to have build up...

Is there a way to remove all everything and start fresh?

I haven't had this problem with other brand shoes, so I posted it here versus the shoecare thread...wondering it its the AE products.

    Thanks in advance!

If a good dose of Conditioner/Cleaner won't take off the build-up, try saddle soap. If you have a massive build-up, you could always try Renomat... The reason for the build-up isn't because of the brand. You may need to make sure you aren't applying too much product. It's easy to go overboard.

thanks guys i've decided to go with park avenue in black and strand in walnut. a question though the walnut color does it go well with chino's and denim? the color looks a bit bland in photos but i'd imagine it just needs that presidential shine.

    thanks

    The color works fine.

    But ...

Most would contend a blucher works better with chinos and denim. I have the Strand model in question and I have literally never worn them with chinos or denim. Not that it can't be done, I just choose not to, opting instead for a blucher.

i have alden bluchers that go well with both i only asked the question because i mainly wear denim and chino's.

i'm working on getting nice trousers but yet to find a brand that makes a cut slim enough for me i'm pretty skinny.

Strand in walnut is amazing IMO I love it. Although the bourbon is calling my names as well. I just purchased a suede belt to go with my amoks and the fine gentlemen at the AE store in Nola threw in some free shoe bags. Love AE.

Do you know if Nordstrom include the other or all other AE shoes in their annual sale?
