Any feedback on the Franciscans? I'm thinking they might be the walnut pair I need. Online reviews complain of a rubbing noise caused by the strap. I'd wear them with slacks and a tie. Only loafers I have are the Westchesters so I like the idea of adding another one.

I'm jealous of the collection you are quickly building! The Franciscans are great. The rubbing noise goes away with one full day wear. Get'em!

Thanks for the tip about the rubbing noise going away, that's eased my concerns. Heading home from work excited to open up my bison Yumas!

Received Rapid City today, but they just see to lack QC; I expect some rough areas due to it being part of rough collection, but creases already on the sides and uneven areas?? They are going back. First disappointing experience with firsts. oh well

As an FYI...
The shoe bank is getting rid of a number of the baseball-themed boat shoes for $19.00 a pair. The selection isn't great, so you might end up with a logo you don't care for. For less than $20, I'm just happy to have a pair for chasing the kids.
The model I purchased is the Sandlot. They are beat up looking to begin with, but I think they are neat.

I picked up the Sandlot as well and managed to get the last one of my team, the Red Sox. I was disappointed I didn't call in time for any of the regular brown pairs.

I wanted so badly to pick up a pair if anything else just because they are $19 but I can't bring myself to wear an MLB shoe that isn't the Dodgers. Call me stupid but I'd feel like I would be a poser if I did

Most of my life I have been a D, but I am also tall.

It was not until 1999 when I first got properly sized at Nordstoms for the AE Sanford - that I found I should be wearing a EEE.

I also suspect many first time buyers of AE on retail websites just look at their other shoes and figure that's what size they would be in an AE shoes, no matter what style.

You're about to find your size, and you will be happy once you know it.
I've got an 11e on one foot and a 10 1/2 eee on the other. I usually size for the wider foot

How much welt damage is acceptable on a second? Aesthetically it doesn't bother me, but I'm worried this regent street might fall apart down the line. What say ye?

If it doesn't bother you aesthetically, then definitely keep them. As for your concern that they will fall apart, don't be. The defect on the shoe in the top picture is that the joint in the welt was done in the middle of the shoe rather than at the heel breast where it should be. This has nothing to do with strength of the shoe. Traditionally the welt is cut at the heel breast on the inside of the shoe because that is deemed to be the best location from an aesthetic point of view. From a strength perspective, it is completely arbitrary, since it has to be started and stopped somewhere.

I assume that the bottom photo is concerning the "dents" in the lip of the split-reverse welt. Again, this is completely cosmetic and has nothing to do with durability. You could probably even smooth it out to a large degree using a soft, blunt object such as a pencil eraser.

As kmdsimpson said, "defects" in the area of the shoe what will be worn out and replaced at their first recrafting are the best kind to have, since you won't have to live with them for the life of the shoe.

Not crazy at all!

I asked AE for availability in my size and unfortunately no Dodgers either. The only thing available that I could wear are the baseball shoe.

Go Dodgers!!

they are pretty much as they look in the pics. Weathered look. I like them. They are comfortable and have the interlocking NY. Did I mention that they were $19?

Thanks, add $25 to ship to Canada, but still a great deal to me. Still bummed I missed the better looking versions of Red Sox shoes and the Brooks Brothers Strands.

Just received pair of Yumas but back they go. I just don't love them...even at $99. I'd rather pay an extra $100 and exchange them for dark brown Long Branch, which is what I'm gonna do.

I don't plan on buying Dalton's as I like my boots to look/perform rugged so should I pair my gray Branch's with the dark brown or waxy brown??
