SWIMS are great. I have two pairs, one I got from BB for $60 and another pair from AE for $30. Don't pay full pricel; buy them on sale.

What a great set of pictures of a great shoe. Thank you for doing that.
I agree that they turned out well, and look great. You know someone makes a candle that smells like cordovan leather. And no I will not post a link for it because if I find it again I'm afraid I'd buy one!
When you get a chance please send me a PM with your address. I received several care packages over the years while overseas from strangers and just realized I have never done the same, It is time. I will send you everything that you need.

So just for the heck of it here is a picture I posted awhile back of brown shell Dundee next to my Jefferson's:

And samples from a year ago comparing some of the AE brown colors:

Although I like polojock615 picture MUCH better! [IMG]

A thread from several years ago contemplated the question of whether AEs are too "blobby." While the consensus opinion was (I think) "no," my wife is concerned that the Franciscans I just bought during the 91st anniversary sale aren't blobby enough. That is to say she finds the 3-333 last on which the shoe is built to be too long, and from certain angles she thinks these look like "clown shoes."

That's not what AE was going for: "Slightly elongated profile with a square toe shape for a more euro look."
My wardrobe is neither fashion forward nor conservative--more retro-edgy (think BB's new Gatsby line). So while I expect that most AE aficionados will disagree with my wife, I wonder whether this ought to be my mainstay (3 days a week) shoe for the foreseeable future. Thoughts?

So we can't acquire new cordovan shoes so that someone can have a cordovan candle? Seems to be misappropriation of resources.

I like the design, dislike the last. I was considering it until I saw it in person. Too fashion forward for my tastes but that is just a personal preference. If it were on the five last I'd love it.

I like monkstraps and I like perf captoes, but all together it's unsettling. Not as bad as that kiltie-tassel-captoe abomination.

    lol

So, the Lord & Taylor deal is pretty good, it seems to me. And may get better on Friday when a new code ("Ultimate") kicks in for 25% off, if your size is still available.

So, with all of that in mind, I have a sizing question. They have sizes like 10, and 10W. Is the "W" equivalent to "e." Anyone know?

EDIT: looks like the strands, and park avenues are all sold out...

I see ^ I use my cordovan samples as car fresheners and hang them from my mirror.

One last picture of the Burgundy shell Leeds before I send them back. 7D in Leeds just wasn't working. Thanks to AE's customer service I well be able to exchange for Black Shell Leeds in 7E instead (decided I was ok on Burgundy shell front with Cambridge and Macneil......)
