Was at my local Nordstrom Rack and happened upon these:

AE Seventh Street (I'm sure most of you remember these). Size 9.5 EEE, on clearance for $129:

And a pair of Fairfax in 8.5D, but in a burnished brown(?):

Sorry for the poor photo quality.

And now here's two pair of shoes I just purchased (one AE, one non):

AE/RL Sanderson. Got these on sale for $312 (firsts) with the recent RL private sale:

To Boot New York Caine (in calfskin, not in patent leather) for use with tuxedo. Got them for more than 50% off. Hopefully I can work up a good shine on these.

I really wish AE offered a similar shoe, on the 8 last preferably. I know the Vernon is sort of their foray into "wholecut-ish made for formalwear but able to be dressed down", but the brogueing on it just kind of sabotages it. The quality of To Boot NY leather is decent, but I wouldn't pay full price for them. I do love the shape/last/silhouette of these shoes though.

Could someone please point me to the post Paul made with the offer and his email address? I would like to contact him in regards to an MTO. Thanks!

I think AllenEdmondsCEO is his handle. Use that to search.

Good question Max. Long story but a week ago today I was talking to the SWAT team that Paul put together and they were looking to send me a 10.5D and 10E Bayfield to check for fit. She was able to find a 10.5D which should come today but the only 10E left in the world was in Italy and she said she couldn't call them back because of customs. So I think they do have some of the American collection. But rumor had it that the brown shell Townley was only available for the European market, so they may have the best of both worlds there. And welcome to the AE thread!
Yes they are, I agree and love mine. I will eventually pick up another pair in a different color I have brown on brown. David posted a link to old AE catalogs and I was surprised to see the Strawfut offered in the 1957 catalog complete with the same nylon mesh uppers.

I look forward to wearing mine again, soon I hope.
OK Doc it is a deal. I'm thinking Jan. Feb. or March of next year for a weekend? If I can hold out that long!
I was thinking about your custom orthotics (yes we are all great enablers here :) and a conversation I had with my admin assistant last year. Her son had to start wearing them and instead of the old style like you likely have he ended up with what they called a sports model. Instead of the molded fiberglass ones that have been around forever they are much thinner and even cushioned. Her husband wears orthotics and when he saw his sons he went to the same doctor and had a pair made for him. She said they are much thinner and work in normal shoes and sneakers. May be worth looking into, it would really open up a new world to you as far as options go.
Those are just fantastic!! I am lucky and blessed to have 3 pair of walnut shell:

And none of them are the lighter color of yours. Yours really look great. The 5 last fits me like it was made for my foot, although the 1 last is close too and I also have had minimal creasing with both lasts. Which I really also like.

100% agreement. An unadorned wholecut is the height of elegance; those look very nice. As much as I look forward to buying nothing but shell for the rest of my life, I'd pick up a pair of those from AE in black calf in a heartbeat. :D

The local AE store was able to find a pair of Lombard firsts in burgundy: $129. Theyre exactly what i was looking for. They had a few odd sizes in the inventory system, so of you are interested, don't delay.

Just spoke to their CS. The Lombard in Burgundy or Walnut is not available in 11.5D or 12D.

I've worn them about 10 times now. I'm going to give it a few more wears and see how it goes.

Have you tried using the AE conditioner/cleaner? I've found that it softens up the leather and seems to stretch/makes the shoes more comfortable as I walk around in them.
