Does anyone have experience with the Vinci from the Seven collection? Since I gave up on the Kenilworth, I have been looking for a replacement plain toe blutcher. Any suggestions?

Depending on whether or not his intention is to wear it with suits as well, I would cast my vote for the above Sanford or maybe the Macneil. A balmoral (strand, park avenue, fifth avenue) is more of a suit shoe (in my opinion) with the park avenue being the quintessential choice. However, if he wants it to wear more casual, such as a dress shirt and chinos/slacks, I might opt for a shoe with open lacing.

I do not have experience with the Vinci, it looks nice, but I according to AAAC it can not be recrafted by AE. You would have to have it done elsewhere. I personally really like the Leeds, have you considered those?

I received my Walnut Shell Strands today. They look pretty good after a preliminary cleaning and brushing. Apparently, whoever finished my pair was of the opinion that he/she needed to add more color to my shoes.

    Here's how they look now.

And a pic of the Walnut Strand between a color 8 Cap Toe boot and a Ravello PTB.

Sorry for the shitty iphone pics.

Nice! I was thinking about those shoes as I was using saphir on my brown shell strands last night. They came out beautifully IMO. Thanks for the pics.

I agree with the other poster, both of these shoes are meant to go with suits and are too formal for chinos. How about a pair of Strands in brown or walnut? I think the Kenilworth in brown or walnut would work as well. The LaSalle in chili or brown looks nice too. All three are very versatile shoes.

Hm.. they don't show the last. Maybe you should email them and ask - with that info, more people will be able to comment.

Are you looking specifically for an orthotic shoe? I'll bet it looks bulkier in person.

Just received my Lombards in Walnut. The color is a lot lighter than I expected, however I really like them and they fit perfect.

I just received a new pair of AE Leeds in Black Shell Cordovan. Decided to do a video on them. I hope you enjoy it. Please click on the YouTube logo so that you can comment in the video if you'd like.

I had a pair of those - they look great in person. Unfortunately, too narrow for me.

I knew I'd regret not jumping on this bandwagon at that price point! They look fantastic. I'm sure a thin (or thick if needed) insole would take up enough room to tighten up the heel. For me, shoe that are slightly small virtually never work. Stretching has never worked well. However, shoes that are slightly large (the key is slightly) I've always been able to make work with insoles of various thicknesses. My RMW's for instance and Wolverine 1K's get green superfeet insoles. I've made some dress shoes work well with the real thin, cheap, green Spenco Comfort insoles.

They make another out of the same material with a touch of arch support. IIRC, they were about $10.
