An interesting idea. But I still think that there may be a little too much broguing for my tastes, at least at this point in time in my sartorial life.

I quite like the looks of the Kenilworth and Flatiron. I probably prefer the Kenilworth, as I like the plain toe, and I also like the fact that it's the same last as the Park Avenues (which seem to fit me pretty well). Perhaps Kenilworth in bourbon...

I'm curious how the bourbon colour compares to chili. Obviously, the chili is a little redder. But in terms of shade, do the bourbons look a little darker overall?

My bourbons are somewhere in between Walnut and Dark Brown.

Some of the AE dark brown shoes I've seen in stores have looked black from a distance, but the walnut shoes are a little light for my tastes. Maybe bourbon is a good compromise.

So the heel of my Finch began to separate after owning for about 5 months...AE said no problem, send in and we'll fix.

Got them back and noticed that when they sanded the heel it looks like they slipped and gouged into the stitching. I emailed pics to AE and they told me that it is just cosmetic.

Would you accept it and move on or try and have them fix it?

I think they should fix the shoe but I don't know if I am being picky...

    Thanks

I wear the heck out of them and then send them back in to be fixed.

I'd be grateful if that's all they did with the sander when my Fifth Streets went back for heel separation.

After three wearings both heels started separating--one at the sole and the other at the V-Tap. I was told they would just put on new heels, but for some reason they did a full sole "recraft" including the hammer stamp underneath and unfortunately they they put the gash in the upper. Apparently AE originally just though it was "cosmetic" as they just sent them back to me like this.

As far as whether yours is cosmetic or worse, I would think the main criteria would be on whether your shoe is structurally unsound now and much more likely to cause future problems.

i tend to be kind of a sloppy walker and tend to scuff my shoes semi-regularly so I know my shoes will never remain perfect, but I did feel that AE should have called me rather than just send mine back as above as I think what happened to mine were obviously too far over the line. As far as your shoes, if they are still structurally ok, then I think the decision is yours as to where you draw the line as to what is acceptable.

The Kenilworth doesn't fit anything like the PA or any other 5 last shoe. I'm a TTS 8.5D and wear 8E on the 5 last. I had to size down to a 7.5E in the Kenilworth(after trying on about 7 size combos) and it still doesn't fit quite right.

Never had a real dress shoes before. Please evaluate the fit please. PA (10D) and Strand (9.5E).

The pen marks balls of foot,
supposedly it should be at the widest part...

    Thanks!!!

PA 10D (snug at pinkie toe, heel feels good)

Strand 9.5E (snug at pinkie to like PA, heel feels roomier, no slipping)

Yes, the bourbon is midway-ish between the walnut and the chocolate. Your mileage may vary and you may get darker or lighter to some degree based on the products you use in your shoe care regimen.

Which model are you talking about? I've seen a few posts about bowing on the Park Aves.

Anybody heard anything from AE about the bourbon polish? I was told a couple months ago they're working on one.
