Wearing mine today (rain forecasted in NYC). I wouldn't have any issue wearing mine with a suit, if I didn't have anywhere to go. I think I have worn mine with a suit when I was visiting one of our other offices.

$125 for cordovan sounds too good to be true unless they were horribly disfigured or used.

I'm not sure I get wearing suede for wet weather. Doesn't the suede spot when it comes it contact with water?

Also, what kind of rubber sole is it? Is it discreet?

I also wanted to ask, what color is the suede? Is it brown snuff or bitter chocolate? I can't tell if the pic from earlier in the thread shows the shoe with a greenish cast

I'm not sure what spotting you are referring to, but my shoes get wet and I don't think they spot. My rationale behind wearing suede in the rain is that they don't have a shine that needs upkeep. Once you get home you just brush the suede and there is no shine that is ruined.

As mentioned above by kmdsimpson, it is a Dainite-style sole. The rubber sole is pretty discreet, but a smidge thicker than a leather sole.

See my previous post when I first bought them.

Hmm I'm not sure what the distinction is between the two, but it is a pretty dark brown suede.

    So no greenish cast, right?

I have a pair of brown suede Chelsea boots. When they get wet, say from water droplets after I wash my hands, I get spots on them. These spots don't go away after the water dries

What do you mean by greenish cast? Do you mean that shade of brown where it is hard to tell whether it is green, grey, or brown? If that is the case, I think that these are brown enough that there shouldn't be a greenish cast.

In the past, I had issues with beer staining a pair of chukka boots, but never with rain.

I'm not sure what Buckseyefan is referring to.

Speaking of Bourbon calf, does anyone have a lead on where to get the McAllister in that color? Was it called the Amsterdam?

Go to the AE website, and look at the "McAllister with Combination Tap Sole". Those are offered in bourbon.

When I spoke with them this morning they said they were (since they were on the list they sent me), except that they had already sold them in my size.

Ordered some walnut players shoes and chocolate suede mcgraws from the freeport store (I called the WI store but they have yet to email me their stock list for the 2/$250 while the freeport store responded to my email request almost immediately).

I had asked for brown or walnut mcgraws and they said they set them aside, but then the girl seems to have gotten confused and switched them to black. By the time that got worked out, the brown and walnut were gone but they did find some chocolate suede which I might be ok with (I've wanted some brown suede loafers...but AE chocolate brown is fairly dark IIRC).

It's definitely dark, but I think you'll like them. I actually posted a picture just a couple days ago of the very same shoes (chocolate Players).
