Indeed, the 511 is the antithesis of the 65. The 511 is a wider and shorter-in-length last compared to the 65, which is a narrow and long last. Generally, the 511 is true to brannock and people often (not always) size down in the 65. For me, the 511 is a much better fit.

Interestingly, I wear the same size in the 511, 65, and the 97… 10.5D, but it wasn’t me snagged that. Today I did wear natty Macneils for wingtip Wednesday

Was looking at my wear tracker yesterday and saw that I hadn't worn these OG cognac Dublin McTavishes yet in 2022 (the code is for cognac, but these probably sit somewhere between cognac and tan IRL).

WTF is wrong with me? I mean, besides the plethora of things I've displayed in my life. Anyway, I'm an idiot because Dublin only gets better over time with frequent usage, and I haven't been wearing these enough in recent years to get even more of dat sweet patina. That's the price I pay for being one of those guys that wears boots 90% of the time. I figured I'd should wear these oxfords with selvedge denim, because they have so many casual elements that I think it works, plus it's fun to make some people's eyeballs twitch. Almost swapped out the tan laces for orange, to give it more of an Elgin feel, and to match with the Orange Monster I'm wearing today, but those laces are down in the basement in a box and I'm feeling extra lazy this morning.

I feel like the only way to remedy my moronic issues is to have Dublin Trunk Show at some point. As much as I'd love a Dublin Higgins Mill or Freeport, the leather really looks best with some brogue-ing, if that's even a word. With that in mind, I'd probably be all over a Dublin Dalton because I'm still pissed at myself for missing out on the Longbranch Dublin MTO with the good Vibram lugs back in 2014 or 2015 or whenever it was. Also, if I could ever figure out a comfortable size in the 65 to wear, I'd even give a Dublin Hamilton a shot. These McTavishes are on the 65, but they were the 3rd pair of AEs I ever bought and I mistakenly thought 12D was my size then, so I kind of swim in these when I'm not wearing thicker socks. Live and learn, I guess. Or, in my case, live and pretty much never learn. Because, you know, I'm a moron.

I need to stop taking pictures in the direct morning sun and maybe learn not to snap my iPhone shots like a moron. Like that'll ever happen. Please enjoy the washed-out look that comes with my life choices.

A deep closet dig today. Snuff Fullerton on the 511 last. Other than St Hubbins (couldn't tag him for some reason, hope he is doing OK), not sure I have seen anyone else post this model. Another of these paradoxical models I seem to gravitate towards.

Also, I've struggle pairing these slate Hamiltons with anything other than blue or reds. What are your thoughts on this combo? The pants leaned a little brown but seemed to pick up enough of the welt.

I think the magnet grey suede goes with everything but dark browns. I think the honey brown picks up the welt enough to work in that case though.

Absolutely beautiful! We've been trying to locate pictures "in the wild" and you, sir, are a winner. Looks so much better than the bright yellow stock photos. It seems like the natural Higgins Mill on double JR was such the obvious choice last TS that almost nobody ordered one. I was on the cusp, but took another route.

Those Hamiltons are awesome! Do you have any olive green pants? Should go well with those and black pants as well. Feel like the pants you have paired with in this pic goes well with them.
