Now here's a question.

What was your first pair of Allen Edmonds and where did you get them from?

For me, it was a Factory 2nd walnut Fifth Ave from the website, and I bought that specific shoe because it was the most discounted of the "classic" AE dress shoes.
Burgundy McAllister off Grailed but when I got the Ridgefield off eBay it was on! (I can quit whenever I want. I just don’t want to)

Jefferson 2.0 in Merlot and I got it from the AE website after trying some pairs on in store that didn't quite fit as they didn't have my size.

I got these in 2019.

Full brogues + oxblood = ez purchase choice for me. I love full brogues and half brogues the most.

My only disappointment with them is the Independence line soles were never grippy and wore through relatively quickly. I got them resoled by my cobbler with taps and they look great now, though I haven't worn them for a bit.

Questions for my friends regarding use of Saphir Renovateur - can it be applied on top of Saphir cream polish?

The reason I ask is Renovateur is often described as possessing cleaning agents, and I’m curious what they do to a coating of cream polish.

The renovateur should be applied first, not after. The renovateur will lift colour from freshly applied cream polish.

If the color is "set", you should be fine. If the color is fresh, it can lift some. I have used it on almost every pair I have, and like it just fine. It does have some wax in it, so it can shine a bit. I think it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I will use Bick if I am worried, or on interiors(cheaper), etc... If I had a custom patina, I may be cautious, but likely would be anyway. I think Pure Polish with the orange oil lifts more, I am careful with that, but they have some good colors and it smells great. Factory dye finish, no worries with Renovateur. Just watch your polishing cloth. Saphir Neutral cream polish is a go to for me, it will shine and leave the color as is. I feel all Kirby Allison now. Where did I leave my silk dressing robe....?

Thanks! Interesting you mention that…I learned on an alto, and then switched over to play bari sax. Haven’t played in a long time, but enjoyed it while I did

Oxblood McAllister.

When I first started working for AE, I didn't know if I would wear the shoes or not since they're men's shoes. I started trying on as many as I could to familiarize myself with the sizing, how the different lasts felt, etc. I fell in love with the McAllister's immediately. Since then, I've been hooked...
