Hate to keep being the sizing guy, but as I see the pics being posted here, I'm learning about more AE models that are simply astonishing. With that said, how do folks recommend sizing on the Dalton boot? My current AE shoes (65 last), are in a size 8.5D.

I wear a 9D in the MacNeil (97 last), 9D in Long Branch (511 last), 9D in Liverpool (943B last) and 9D in Dalton.

But my only 65 last, the Boardwalk, I’m an 8.5 D. The toe box of Boardwalk is much wider than the above, except maybe the LB.

No 511 last experience but in everything else I’m the same as you. 1/2 size up from 65.

Worked for the Santa Fe Railway from July 9th 1965 to April 30th 1971 when Amtrak happened and almost everyone's jobs were abolished. That's why I'm wearing a Santa Fe employe enamel lapel pin in all the pictures.

Recently acquired an Amtrak uniform face mask.

Here's another picture from 1968.

Here's a picture from 2016 when I was riding in a former Santa Fe Railway business car.

After Amtrak happened worked mostly in upscale retail and occasionally worked on private railroad cars.

Here's a picture from a 1982 private car trip from Los Angeles to Expo '82 in Vancouver B.C.

For some reason one of the passengers brought a tuba (on the right in this picture) on the train with him. Tubas on a train are worse than snakes on a plane.

Here's a recent picture I took of what the Red Chinese would probably call "The Great Hall Of Abolished Jobs" at Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal.

Once upon a time hundreds of clerks and dozens of exempts worked here selling tickets.

On that horrible day Amtrak happened the red jacketed Amtwits who had been hired off the streets asked where the keys were and where the women employees rest rooms were.

When the station was built there were no locks of the exterior doors since it never occurred to anyone the station would ever close and like all railroad facilities, there were no women employees rest rooms because there had never been a need for any.

The women that were hired during WWII (some of whom stayed on after the men came back) always used the womens public restrooms.

Don’t hesitate to ask sizing questions. We have all been there, and all lament shoes we adore which don’t fit.

If feasible, order both sizes.

Fantastic.

I’m certain it was Expo 86 in Vancouver though, because I was there.

On Thursday, three of our most active enthusiasts and I flew to our headquarters to take a tour of our factory, talk about what they'd like to see from us in the future, and participate in a photoshoot...all in efforts to kick off a very exciting trio of releases we are dropping on the 17th.

That story will go live on our website on the 17th. Mark your calendars and be sure to check out details of that visit on The Journal, which is a section of our website we dedicate to our storytelling and a peek behind the scenes at what makes AE, our people, and our product so special. I think you guys would find the content we regularly post there very interesting.

We'll only be producing 100 of each released colorway, so if you see something you think you might be interested in once everything goes live...act with urgency! ;)

This isn't all, btw. We will be dropped about 4 or 5 waves of limited released this year, all an assortment of archive vault styles and fresh takes on current favorites.

Really looking forward to you guys checking out The Journal on the 17th!

*** An additional note: I believe there is a misconception that very little is actually done in our factory, and that "handcrafted in America" has become bit of a technicality these days. I encourage you to take a look at some of the early behind the scenes shots I took below, and see for yourself how talented our people are, and how much really IS done right here in Wisconsin. ***

Hi AE folks. You'll usually find me over on the vintage shoe thread, but I have a question for you specialists. We've been discussing bicycle toed models like AE's Hillcrest and Mapleton. Just wondering what you all thought of those two. I just bought a pair of Hillcrest off eBay; looking forward to seeing them in person next week.
